Top Hand Supplies is a raw pet food/pet treat manufacturer and distributor based in sunny Cranbrook, BC. Cranbrook is in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia where getting out and enjoying the outdoors is almost unavoidable. Top Hand Supplies is a small second-generation family-owned business that is focused on creating employment and making great pet food in the Kootenays for Western Canadian pet parents. We started in a home kitchen making food for our own dogs back in the late nineties, now our kitchen is just a little bit bigger, we still make food for our dogs and cats but also try to make a bit extra for other people because we feel it is that good. Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is a hub of the organization, we are a manufacturing business and as such the smooth and efficient flow of goods in and out plays a huge role in our success. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of the supply chain from purchase and inbound transportation of raw materials, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation of outbound finished goods, to the management and development of all associated employees within the department. To be successful in this position you need to be a leader and builder that is not scared to get involved and get their hands dirty to make it better.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Manage and improve upon the company MRP/Inventory systems with the goal of constantly increasing efficiencies and overall visibility to all levels of the company.
- Manage company inventories and coordinate needs between departments
- Perform purchasing and/or coordinate purchasing with other staff
- Manage all inbound and outbound logistics and/or coordinate with other staff
- Coordinate with/between various departments to ensure adequate supply and smooth flow of goods throughout operations.
- Manage and improve upon the company MRP and inventory program




- Work with sales to coordinate and execute outbound shipments using internal trucking and third-party carriers in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
- Manage and improve on all aspects of the department including, HR, Operations, R&M;, and regulatory.
- Manage department personnel and take an active role in supervision, training, scheduling, performance management, recruiting, retention, & end of employment.
- Perform fill-in duties within the department as required.
- Effectively communicate with all personnel be it company, vendors, or customers to ensure everyone involved is clear on objectives and expectations for the individual, group, or company.
- Maintain and improve existing vendor and customer relationships, search out and build recent relationships with strategic partners.
- Search out and grow new opportunities and strategic partnerships that will move the company forward
- Perform tracking, costing, budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining relevant KPIs to ensure the department is both profitable and driving the company forward to reach its goals and objectives.
- Actively bring forward ideas for continuous improvement from all members of the department and work through the feasibility of these ideas as they may benefit the company.
- Build, train, and grow a dedicated, reliable, and engaged team that contributes to the company's goals and objectives.
- Be a courageous leader in workplace health & safety.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement and engagement within the department and organization as a whole with a focus on standardization, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
- Effectively delegate tasks and schedule/dispatch personnel to ensure optimal business performance.
- Work with administrative personnel to ensure all department employees are accurately paid and cared for.
- Plan, schedule, participate and play an active role in regular department meetings for H&S; and operations.
- Participate in and play an active role in regular management meetings, creating relevant reports and presentations on the performance of the department.




- Maintaining and submitting all required documentation and reporting in a timely manner.
- Constantly analyze logistics patterns and industry trends and implement improvement strategies in a way that supports the company.
- Hold all subordinate team members accountable for failure to meet reasonable expectations and work with team members and management to be proactive in solving problems.
- Perform exit interviews of all subordinate resignations, and track and report on causes of department churn. Develop and implement changes to reduce churn within the department.
- Perform other duties and assist with other departments as required.
- Set and communicate department goals and objectives to all members of the company.
- Celebrate individual, department, and company successes, and analyze and create solutions for any shortfalls or failures.

Working Conditions

- Mostly indoors, office-type environment but does include time with operations, suppliers, & customers.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Can be a very high-pressure environment with demands from multiple parties.
- Some travel will be required within the scope of this role.

Qualifications & Skills

- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience as a Supply Chain & Logistics Manager or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the pet food industry is considered a strong asset
- Strategic thinking and excellent interpersonal communication skills are crucial for this role
- Strong & organized analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Computer competency in general business systems, inventory control, & transportation.
- Knowledge and experience with cold chain logistics systems.
- Extensive knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and other regulatory requirements as applicable for their department.
- Knowledge and training in 5S &/or Lean are considered an asset
- Ability to give and take unbiased positive and constructive feedback to/from people
- Thoughtful and time-bound decision-making
- Effectively communicate using concise, easy-to-understand language.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
