Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties

Nuclear Studies 1N03: Nuclear Technology Applications

Introduction to the nuclear energy landscape. Roles of stakeholders in the nuclear industry. Impact of nuclear energy on society and the environment. Discussion of standards and regulations. Applications in medical science and technology.

Course learning objectives:

- Explain what we mean by ‘nuclear’ across multiple contexts.
- Identify how nuclear intersects with a wide variety of McMaster University undergraduate programs.
- Discuss the role of nuclear in Canada's generation of power and medicine.
- Define the role of different stakeholders in Canada's nuclear energy sector.
Describe technical, financial, and social factors needed to build nuclear facilities in Canada

- Required Qualifications – Post Secondary Degree

Preferred Qualifications – Master’s degree and five years or more relevant industry experience.
