About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, highly organized, and technically proficient Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in a busy community pharmacy environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working in a high-volume pharmacy, can accurately and efficiently type 100+ prescriptions per day, understands the complexities of third-party billing and insurance, and can confidently manage prescription processing from intake through adjudication and workflow completion.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that a strong pharmacy assistant is essential to keeping the pharmacy running efficiently while maintaining accuracy and providing an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately and efficiently enter and process 100+ prescriptions per day
- Perform prescription data entry with a high degree of speed, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Process prescription claims through PharmaCare and third-party insurance plans
- Troubleshoot billing issues, rejected claims, coordination of benefits, deductibles, maximums, special coverage requirements, and other adjudication issues
- Understand and navigate common insurance and PharmaCare billing scenarios
- Process prescription transfers, refills, renewals, reversals, claim corrections, and other prescription workflow requirements
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians' offices, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals
- Provide professional, friendly, and efficient customer service
- Assist pharmacists with prescription workflow and day-to-day pharmacy operations
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and identify discrepancies requiring pharmacist attention
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
- Follow pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements




- Support other pharmacy services and operational responsibilities as required
- Compounding Knowledge

The ideal candidate will also have theoretical knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding, including familiarity with:

- Basic principles of non-sterile compounding
- Calculations, measurements, and weighing
- Dosage forms and preparation techniques
- Proper handling of ingredients and equipment
- Compounding documentation and workflow
- Appropriate hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices
- Hands-on compounding experience is considered an asset, but solid theoretical understanding and willingness to develop practical skills are equally valued.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

- Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Assistant in a community pharmacy
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently process high prescription volumes
- Strong prescription data-entry skills
- Excellent understanding of PharmaCare and third-party insurance billing
- Ability to independently troubleshoot common insurance and billing problems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to prescription accuracy
- Excellent computer and pharmacy software skills
- Robust organizational and multitasking abilities
- Professional and confident communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists and other pharmacy team members

Strong Assets:

- Experience with Kroll Pharmacy Management System
- Experience processing 100–150+ prescriptions per day




- Compounding knowledge or experience
- Experience with blister packaging / compliance packaging
- Experience with PharmaCare billing and complex third-party claims
- Experience with prescription transfers and insurance coordination
- Experience in a high-volume independent pharmacy environment
