Compensation: $18.00 – $22.00 / hour (commensurate with experience)
Contract Period: Immediate – October 14, 2026
Schedule: Part-Time / Temporary Coverage (approx. 15 hours/week; Tuesday, Wednesday & Sunday, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM)

About the Role:
UMC High School is seeking a dependable, organized Temporary Residence Cook to provide dinner service and kitchen support for our boarding students and residence supervisor. This is a short-term contract position providing temporary coverage through mid-October, ideal for someone who takes pride in home-style meal preparation and maintaining a spotless kitchen workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

- Meal Preparation: Cook well-balanced, nutritious daily dinners for students and on-duty residence staff according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Breakfast Prep & Stocking: Ensure breakfast staples, fruit, and essential items are fully restocked and prepped for the following morning.
- Menu Planning & Inventory: Coordinate with residence staff on grocery lists and supply requirements; assist in planning weekly menus.
- Daily Reporting: Photograph prepared meals daily and send updates to the Residence Coordinator.




- Kitchen Sanitation: Maintain rigorous cleanliness standards—wash pots, pans, and dishware; clean cooking surfaces; oversee daily kitchen garbage and recycling disposal.
- Residence Support: Promptly report any equipment maintenance, grocery replenishment needs, or student welfare/behavioural observations to the supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Demonstrated cooking experience (school residences, daycare, cafeteria, or volume food prep experience preferred).
- High standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organization (Food Handler Certification is an asset).
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.
- Explicit verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Clean Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or willingness to obtain one upon offer.
