The Opportunity The RAIC is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Business Development Specialist to help grow and diversify the organization’s revenue through corporate partnerships, sponsorships, advertising, and other commercial opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing new opportunities, and turning ideas into measurable results.

This is initially a one-year contract position, with the potential to become permanent based on organizational needs and the continued success of the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Research, identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective corporate partners, sponsors, advertisers, exhibitors, and other revenue-generating opportunities through targeted outreach, networking, and industry engagement.
- Build and manage a strong national sales pipeline, overseeing assigned opportunities through prospecting, qualification, proposal development, presentations, negotiation support, closing, implementation, and renewal.
- Prepare tailored proposals, presentations, partnership agreements, business cases, and other commercial materials.
- Develop trusted relationships with current and prospective partners, identifying opportunities to expand engagement, secure renewals, and establish multi-year partnerships.
- Coordinate sponsorship benefits, contractual commitments, recognition, and partner activations across the RAIC Conference on Architecture, events, webinars, publications, and other initiatives.
- Collaborate with departments across the RAIC to develop commercial opportunities and ensure partner commitments are delivered successfully.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and performance reports; monitor market trends and commercial results to recommend new partnerships, products, and revenue opportunities.

What You Bring

- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, sales, or a related field.
- Two to three years of relevant experience in business development,



corporate partnerships, sponsorship, sales, or account management.
- Demonstrated success developing opportunities, managing the sales cycle, generating revenue, and building long-term business relationships.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, organization, and project-management skills.
- Commercial judgment, initiative, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a remote organization.
- Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled productivity tools.

The Following Would Be Considered Assets

- Experience selling sponsorships, advertising, events, or other business-to-business services.
- Knowledge of the architecture, design, construction, association, or not-for-profit sectors.
- Experience developing multi-year partnerships and presenting to senior decision-makers.
- Bilingualism in English and French.
