Lead advocacy efforts for Kitasoo Xai’xais families as a Child Welfare Advocate in Klemtu. Safeguard rights and promote cultural integrity in child services. As a Child Welfare Advocate, you represent the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation's interests in systems involving local children and families.
This full-time role requires a commitment to cultural advocacy and effective navigation of complex child welfare processes. Your work ensures families receive culturally relevant support and guidance. Key Responsibilities:
- Support families in understanding their rights and systems
- Attend and represent at key meetings and court sessions
- Facilitate cultural engagements for children outside the community
- Liaise between families and child welfare agencies
- Maintain confidential case records and reporting Requirements:
- Diploma in Child & Youth Care or similar preferred
- Relevant experience in advocacy or social work
- Knowledge of Indigenous rights and child welfare laws
- Excellent communication and support skills
