Coordinator, Health and Safety Corporate Services - Human Resources
Status: (1) Contract Full-Time position – Up to 6 months
Hiring Range: $75,696 - $85,159 per annum

Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON
Hours of work: 35 hours per week In this role the coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and maintenance of the Region’s health and safety management system. Plays a key role in compiling, organizing and analyzing documentation and records needed to demonstrate the Region’s compliance with safety- related legislation and best practices.
What you will do in this role:
- Administer and maintain Workplace Health and Safety databases, reporting system and documentation.
- Coordinate Incident reporting, data quality reviews and preparation of monthly, annual and ad-hoc safety reports.
- JHSC documentation management, tracking, compliance records and shared inbox communications
- Administrative tasks such as Pcard reconciliation, meeting room booking, conference registrations, team memberships
- Support development, implementation, maintenance, and audit for the Region’s health and safety management system.
- Research legislative requirements, industry best practices, and emerging trends to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Co-ordinate the review and enhancement of Regional health and safety policies, procedures, processes, and programs for regulatory compliance (eg. Joint Health & Safety Committees, First Aid, and Accident Investigation).
- Co-ordinate, implement and maintain the section’s document control program through Enterprise Information Management System (eg. EIM).
- In collaboration with Health & Safety Associate, compiling and conducting follow up with staff responsible for health and safety within operating departments to ensure ongoing compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and for audit purposes.
- Organize, compile and analyze data and prepare statistical reports.
- Create health and safety bulletins, training programs, e-learning modules, and safety talks.
- Maintain Healthy Workplace Pathways pages.
- Organize and maintain safety related databases and inventories (e.g. First Aiders, Job Demands Analysis, Policy, Training and Assistive Devices)
- Responsible to respond inquiries regarding health and safety legislation, policies, procedures, processes and organizational requirements.
- Deliver administrative and project coordination support
What the role requires:
- A degree/diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant degree/diploma with certificate in Occupational Health & Safety. At least 3 years of health & safety management system experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of policies, legislations and principles pertaining to health and safety, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Health and Safety Management Standards
- Proficiency in web content management software.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, and compliance.
- Proven experience in Records and Information Management database administration, and data integrity.
- Skilled in project management, process improvement, and analytical problem-solving.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent computer and information technology skills are essential, including MS Office applications, VISIO, and EIM
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written skills
- Strong relationship-building, customer service, and collaboration skills Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
- Ability to work as both a team player and independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to conduct research, collect data and analyze results
- Ability to travel with access to reliable transportation
