POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Northern Operations, the Cultural andHealing Services Specialist is responsible to support the cultural knowledgewellbeing of participants through grounded, respectful and relationalpractice. The role contributes to awholistic approach to care that reflects First Nations ways of knowing andbeing while aligning with contemporary, inclusive and evidence-informedwellness principles. Working under theguidance of the Director and in collaboration with the Manager and ProgramSupervisors, the Cultural and Healing Services Specialist provides individualand group based support, facilitates wellness-focused activities, and assistsin the integration of culturally grounded practices within the organization ina way that is inclusive, trauma aware and responsive to diverse livedexperiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Director of Northern Operations, this position has the following duties and responsibilities:

ProgramOperation & Development

- Develop regular reviews and, when necessary, adjust healingplans for youth and young adults;
- Collaborate withmultidisciplinary teams to ensure wellness support aligns with healing plansand organizational values;
- Assist with programcoordination tasks such as scheduling, communication, resource preparation anddocumentation as required;
- Works in consultation with Program Supervisors toidentify training needs of staff;
- Works collaboratively to ensure an effectiveparticipant transition plan is established and implemented;
- Provides consultation to identify proper support andappropriate plans to meet the individual needs of program participants,caregivers and significant others;
- Works collaborativelyto support wellness-focused programming and activities;
- Support the deliveryof individual and group wellness supports that promote emotional regulation andconnection;
- Assists with thecoordination and facilitation of group discussions and culturally groundedactivities when requested;
- Support ceremonies,gatherings or community events ensuring respectful, inclusive and safepractice;
- Model healthyrelationships accountability, emotional awareness, and respectfulcommunication;
- Participate in ongoinglearning, reflection, and organizational training related to wellness, cultureand practice development;
- Establishes indigenous activity-based programming forthe participants

Administration

- Assist in the development of the annual budget for thecultural program
- Ensure spending is within the approved budget
- Prepare reports and ensure that daily records aremaintained and documented according to program guidelines





Community Liaison &Relation;

- Liaise with the placing agency and other communityresources as needed
- Co-ordinate inter-agency planning/meetings around theneeds of the participants
- Always representing the program and the organizationin a professional manner
- Develop and maintain positive relationships withneighbors, schools and community groups and organizations

Professional & PersonalDevelopment

- Participate in ongoing skilled developmentopportunities to increase knowledge of the field and to increase the skilllevel needed to continue meeting developing employment needs
- Become familiar with The Link philosophy, organizationpolicies and program protocols

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
- Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within complexsystems
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a childwelfare setting
- Combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of family and social challengesfacing Indigenous children, youth and families, including intergenerationalimpacts
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures and a broad-basedknowledge of Indigenous healing modalities, practices and ceremonies
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding oftherapeutic needs of youth in residential care settings
- Ability to be an effective team player, and operatefrom a systemic framework
- Excellent organizational, leadership and interpersonalskills
- Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Officeat an intermediate level
- A valid driver’s license
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse RegistryCheck and Prior Contact Check

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, languages andvalues; respectful and collaborative working relationships within indigenouscommunities and/or systems would be an asset.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

- Valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence and satisfactorydriving record.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.

PHYSICAL, VISUAL ANDAUDITORY REQUIREMENTS

- Physically capable of performing the dutiesassigned including:
- Ergonomicrequirements may include pushing, pulling, crawling, lifting, and carryingobjects, crouching, bending, standing, stooping, reaching, grasping, kneeling,climbing, balancing, walking, running, walking, reaching above shoulder, andtwisting the body.
