ABOUT THE ROLE The Bus Monitor is responsible for helping ensure the safety, security, and well-being of children and youth while they are traveling on a school, community, or recreational bus. The monitor supports the driver by supervising passengers, maintaining a positive and respectful environment, and responding appropriately to behavioral or safety concerns.

KEY RESPONSIBITIES

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Supervise youth while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.
- Ensure passengers remain seated and follow all bus safety rules.
- Track attendance
- Lead the Bus Group Chat
- Assist youth who may need additional support.
- Monitor behavior and address conflicts or inappropriate conduct calmly and respectfully.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all passengers.
- Assist with secure loading and unloading of passengers at designated locations.
- Communicate safety concerns, incidents, or behavioral issues to the bus driver and appropriate supervisor.
- Follow established emergency, transportation procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding youth, families, and organizational information.
- Complete incident reports or other required documentation when necessary.
- Work cooperatively with drivers, program staff, parents/guardians, and supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

- Must be a current E-Learning High School Student
- Experience working with youth is an asset.




- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Ability to establish appropriate boundaries with children and youth.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and organizational policies.
- Current First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, HSC3000 certification is an asset.
- Successful completion of any required background or vulnerable-sector screening.
