Highlands Early Learning Centre is a well-established, non-profit, play-based preschool in North Vancouver’s Edgemont Village. We are seeking a caring and dependable ECE or ECEA to join our collaborative team as a Preschool Support Educator.

From Monday to Thursday, you will support children with individualized needs within the classroom, helping them participate in play, navigate transitions, and feel safe and included. You will receive guidance from the Executive Director, classroom teachers, and Supported Child Development Program consultants.

Fridays are a guaranteed paid day, providing floating classroom support and substitute teaching coverage as needed.

You will work and learn alongside a warm, experienced teaching team that includes a 2024 recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education. With guidance from colleagues who are passionate about play-based learning, open ended art and inclusion, this is a wonderful opportunity to build your confidence and grow as an educator.





Previous teaching experience is welcome but is not required—we value patience, sound judgment, a willingness to learn, and a thoughtful approach to working with children.

We offer 29 paid hours per week, paid winter and spring breaks, and paid professional development. Available only some days? We welcome applications from educators interested in sharing the position. Please tell us which days you can consistently work.

Qualifications

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications

- Valid BC ECEA or ECE certificate.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Current first aid certification appropriate for a childcare setting.
- Successful completion of the required criminal record check before starting work.
- A patient, caring, and respectful approach to children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
- Commitment to children’s safety, inclusion, and confidentiality.

Required Experience Previous paid teaching experience is not required. Newly certified ECEAs and ECEs are encouraged to apply. Experience supporting children with individualized needs is an asset. The successful applicant will receive guidance from the Executive Director, classroom teachers, and Supported Child Development Program consultants.

Salary & Advantages

- Base wage of $22–$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.




- Applicable provincial ECE Wage Enhancement in addition to the base wage for eligible ECE-certified employees.
- 29 guaranteed paid hours per week for the full position, including Fridays.
- Two weeks of paid winter holidays and one week of paid spring holidays.
- 12 hours of paid professional development.
- Support and guidance from an experienced, collaborative team.

Additional Information This is a fixed-term position starting as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2027, with the possibility of an extension.
