Description The Department of Art and Art History in the Faculty of Arts is currently seeking a Student Hourly Gallery Coordinator.

Are you a passionate Visual Arts or Art History student looking to gain hands-on gallery experience? The Department of Art & Art History is seeking an organized and proactive Gallery Coordinator to oversee our vibrant student teaching galleries for the current fall and upcoming winter term.

- Fall and Winter terms (15 weeks per term);
- 90 hours per term (6 hours per week);
- The equivalent of two 3-hour shifts per week with scheduling to be determined based on the timeline in the Gallery Usage Regulations and Contract.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

- The Gallery Coordinator oversees and facilitates the operation of the three Department of Art & Art History teaching galleries - The Little Gallery, Gallery Six Two One, and the Arnatt Gallery. Coordinators are responsible for being familiar with and implementing the terms of the Gallery Usage Regulations and Contract and for ensuring that the exhibitors follow the stated rules and timeline.
- The job includes but is not limited to the approval of exhibitions in consultation with faculty members, scheduling of exhibitions, coordination of exhibitors, handling of keys, conduction of condition inspections, lighting, monitoring of supply stocks, coordination with technicians and whenever necessary, gallery maintenance and repair.

Qualifications / Requirements

- Coordinator must be very well-organized, excellent communicators, safety-conscious, familiar with basic tools and be capable of basic construction and maintenance tasks.
- Coordinator must familiarize themselves with the Gallery Wall and Floor Care Guide.
- Training for this job will be provided by technicians in a two-hour orientation to be scheduled prior to the first week of classes in September.
- Other training and technical advice will be provided during the term as required.




- Coordinator will also need to take relevant on-line safety training provided by UC Environmental Health and Safety as necessary.
- Preference is for an undergraduate student in Visual Arts or Art History.
