Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is situated on the ancestral land of the Siksikaitsitapi - Blackfoot Confederacy which includes the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani Nations and the shared territories of the Tsuut’ina Nation as well as the Iyarhe Nakoda-Stoney which includes Bearspaw, Chiniki, Positive Stoney Nations and also the home of the Métis Nation of District 5 and 6. The Opportunity

The Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for Grading Assistants to support instructors and the Dean, Academic Programs in the evaluation of student work using established grading criteria and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.

These are casual (hourly) positions commencing as early as October 2027 until June 2027. Hours of work may be up to 30 hours per course section assignment and up to 25 hours per week Monday – Friday.

Key Responsibilities

- Grade assignments, tests, papers, and other student work using established criteria.
- Complete grading within assigned timelines.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality in grading practices.
- Follow instructor direction and course requirements.
- Comply with institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion,



individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered.

- An undergraduate degree in a discipline relevant to the subject matter of the liberal studies course – Art History, Design History, English, or comparable Arts discipline.
- Previous experience with assessment of undergraduate written work.
- Strong oral and written communication and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information during and after the term of employment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management Systems (Moodle) is an asset.
- Knowledge of post-secondary legislation, policies, and procedures is an asset.

As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), this casual position pays an hourly rate of $17.02 plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation and union dues will be collected at a rate of 1.5% per pay. As this position is casual in nature, there will be no guarantee of hours or a regular schedule.
