The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Health Care Services Manager to join the Department of Health and Social Services in Inuvik.

This role oversees the administration of health-care coverage and benefit programs for residents across the Northwest Territories. It combines program management, financial oversight, policy interpretation and staff leadership to help ensure health-care registrations, insured services and benefit payments are accurate, timely and compliant with applicable legislation and agreements.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Health Services Administration, you will manage the delivery of NWT Health Care Plan registration, Insured Services and Supplementary Health Benefit programs. You will oversee financial controls and expenditures, support budgeting and reporting, provide interpretation of legislation and policy, and lead staff responsible for administering health-care coverage and benefits across the territory.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the administration of NWT Health Care Plan registration, Insured Services and Supplementary Health Benefit programs.
- Oversee financial planning, expenditure monitoring,



budget projections and variance reporting for the division.
- Ensure claims, payments and program activities comply with applicable legislation, agreements, policies and financial requirements.
- Monitor health information and payment systems and support improvements to data quality, program administration and financial accuracy.
- Research program and policy issues and provide recommendations, briefing materials and advice to senior management.
- Lead and support unit staff through work planning, performance management, training and day-to-day supervision.

Qualifications

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

- A degree in Management, Health Administration, Commerce or Business, combined with four years of related work experience;

OR A related diploma and six years of related work experience.
- Experience must include two years of supervisory experience and financial accounting experience in a health-care setting.
