The HR and Payroll Generalist is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle, including policy development, employee relations, recruitment, training, and payroll support.

This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive HR strategy, ensure legal compliance, and foster a respectful and engaged workplace culture. Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Leadership

- Partner with senior management to establish annual HR priorities
- Contribute to succession planning and leadership development initiatives
- Provide HR insights and recommendations in management meetings
- Support organizational growth across multiple branches/locations

Policies, Compliance & Employee Relations
- Develop, implement, and maintain provincially compliant HR policies, procedures and manuals
- Deliver training on policies, respectful workplace practices, and the HR manual
- Advise managers on performance management and disciplinary actions
- Conduct investigative interviews and support resolution of workplace issues
- Ensure terminations are handled professionally and in compliance with legal requirements
- Conduct exit interviews and provide insights to leadership

Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop and maintain job descriptions
- Coordinate recruitment efforts including job postings, screening, and interviews
- Lead onboarding processes, including documentation and orientation

Employee Engagement & Development
- Design and administer employee engagement and satisfaction surveys
- Recommend and implement initiatives to improve workplace culture




- Support development of leadership training programs
- Contribute to town halls and internal HR communications

HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
- Track training, performance reviews, and disciplinary documentation
- Act as subject matter expert on employee benefits and respond to inquiries
- Liaise with executive leadership on confidential HR matters

Payroll & Benefits Lead
- Complete the biweekly payroll process using our Payroll System
- Administer of Group RSP and benefits plans
- Track attendance, absences, and time reporting discrepancies
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Maintain payroll records and system updates

Health & Safety
- Serve as an HR advisor on the Health & Safety Committee
- Support communication and compliance initiatives

Qualifications Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field
- CPHR designation considered an asset
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (preferred)
- Experience with Payworks or similar payroll systems preferred
