About DENIM
DENIM is a creative production company representing a roster of directors, photographers, and multidisciplinary artists. We work across commercials, music videos, branded content, and creative projects, partnering with agencies, brands, artists, and collaborators in Canada and internationally.
We’re looking for an experienced In-House Bidding Producer to join our production team and lead the bidding process across incoming opportunities.
The Role The Bidding Producer will work closely with our Executive Producers, producers, directors, and production partners to build thoughtful, accurate, and competitive bids.
This role sits at the intersection of creative ambition, production strategy, and financial responsibility. You’ll take projects from initial brief through bid submission and handoff, helping determine the smartest production approach while ensuring budgets are realistic, competitive, and aligned with the creative.
The ideal candidate has robust commercial production experience, understands the realities of producing in Canada and internationally, and can confidently navigate everything from a straightforward local shoot to a complex multi-market production.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the bidding process for incoming commercial, music video and creative production opportunities.
- Review agency/client briefs, boards, treatments, and production requirements to identify scope, assumptions, risks, and key cost drivers.
- Build detailed production budgets from initial ballparks through formal bid submissions.
- Work closely with Executive Producers and directors to develop production approaches that protect the creative while remaining competitive.
- Source and negotiate crew, equipment, locations, studios, casting, art department, travel, post-production, and other production costs.
- Develop production schedules and preliminary timelines during the bidding phase.
- Manage multiple active bids simultaneously, often against tight deadlines.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies, production services, and alternative approaches where appropriate.
- Track revisions throughout the bidding process and maintain clear version control.
- Work with Executive Producers to evaluate margins and ensure bids meet internal financial targets.
- Maintain and develop relationships with crew, vendors, studios, service companies, and production partners.
- Stay current on market rates, ACCP requirements, production trends, and changing costs across the industry.
- Support the transition from awarded bid to production, ensuring the producing team understands the budget, assumptions, commitments, and production strategy.
Qualifications
- 2-3+ years of experience in commercial, music video or related production.
- Strong experience building and managing production budgets.
- Excellent understanding of Canadian production practices,
crew structures, rates, and vendors.
- Experience bidding projects involving international production is a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of production logistics, scheduling, insurance, talent, travel, equipment, locations, and post-production.
- Comfortable working with production budgeting software.
- Strong negotiating skills and an established network of production contacts.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Able to quickly understand a creative concept and translate it into a realistic production plan.
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the larger creative and commercial objectives.
- Calm, collaborative, and solutions-oriented under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the puzzle of bidding: figuring out how to make ambitious creative work happen within the realities of a budget.
You should be equally comfortable getting into the details of a production estimate, negotiating with a vendor, talking through an approach with a director, or sitting with an Executive Producer to determine how we can make a project more competitive.
This is an in-house role for someone who wants to become deeply integrated into the company—learning our directors, understanding how we approach production, building relationships with our partners, and helping DENIM consistently put its strongest foot forward when new opportunities come through the door.
