It brings together industry leaders, academia, government representatives, startups, researchers, and students to drive innovation and research.

Role Description:

The Member of Research, Innovation & Commercialization Council is a volunteer, remote role focused on advancing Canada’s autonomous systems ecosystem. Council members participate in regular virtual meetings, contribute to strategic discussions on research priorities, innovation pathways, and commercialization opportunities, and help identify emerging trends and gaps in the sector. Day-to-day activities may include reviewing proposals and reports, providing subject-matter input on initiatives, collaborating with other council members on working groups,



and supporting the development of position papers or guidance documents.

Members also engage with external stakeholders, such as industry partners, academic institutions, and government bodies, to foster collaboration and promote responsible innovation and commercialization. This role offers the chance to influence national and regional conversations on autonomous systems while contributing to community-building and knowledge-sharing efforts.

Qualifications:

- Experience or strong interest in autonomous systems, such as UAS, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or AI-driven technologies.
- Background in research, innovation management, technology development, or commercialization within industry, academia, government, or startups.
- Skills in strategic thinking, policy awareness, and the ability to analyze complex technical and regulatory topics.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, including working effectively in remote, cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of Canadian innovation ecosystems, public policy, or workforce development in technology-related fields is an asset.
- Ability to commit time to regular virtual meetings, council initiatives, and collaborative projects on a volunteer basis.
- Relevant post-secondary education in engineering, science, technology, public policy, business, or a related discipline is beneficial.
