Our client is seeking a contract based Test Automation Specialist to accelerate the development of end-to-end automated testing using Playwright and TypeScript. This is a hands-on contract role requiring someone who can immediately contribute, quickly understand business workflows, and leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to rapidly build and scale automated test coverage.

Duration: 6 months

Location: Remote (occasional meeting in Toronto)

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Build and enhance test automation frameworks covering web, API, and mobile applications.
- Create end-to-end automated tests that validate complete business workflows and user journeys.
- Leverage GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development techniques to accelerate test creation, refactoring, and automation at scale.
- Review existing Selenium automation to understand application behaviour and validation requirements where helpful.
- Work within and enhance the client’s existing Playwright/TypeScript framework.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, reliability, maintainability, and execution speed.
- Collaborate with developers, QA resources,



and business stakeholders to quickly understand application workflows.
- Support release readiness by identifying automation gaps and improving regression coverage.
- Produce clean, reusable, maintainable automation code and supporting documentation.

Requirements

- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript in enterprise test automation environments.
- Demonstrated experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding tools to significantly accelerate automation development.
- Proven ability to design and build test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Experience automating web applications, APIs, and mobile/application workflows.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end testing, regression testing, integration testing, and test automation best practices.
- Experience working with or modernizing legacy Selenium-based automation.
- Ability to translate business processes into effective automated test scenarios.
- Strong coding, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly understand complex applications and business workflows with minimal ramp-up.
