As a Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about promoting healthy eating habits and improving overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Review physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake
- Research current developments in the field of long-term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements
- Implement dietary measures with a long‑term view of maintaining or improving a patient’s quality of life
- Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care
- Compare effectiveness of dietary plans against resident’s progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary
- Discuss care plan meetings with the families of patients so that they are included in the necessary programs
- Chart and documents all dietary progress notes,
including counselling, diet instructions
- Assess the need for new methods of feeding
- Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be registered with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics
- Excellent ability to manage high stress or highly emotional situations
