Embedded Recruiting Specialist – Applicant Review & Screening

Brief Summary

BizFirst is seeking an experienced recruiter to support a confidential technology client with a high-volume hiring initiative. This is a full-time contract assignment focused primarily on reviewing inbound applications, conducting initial phone screens, and accurately documenting candidate outcomes in the client’s applicant tracking system. The selected recruiter will work as an independent contractor with BizFirst and will be dedicated to this client assignment during the engagement. The initial hiring effort is expected to run through the end of the year, with the possibility of extension or expansion.

This is not primarily a sourcing role. The client will manage candidate sourcing, technical assessments, and interview scheduling.

What You Will Do

- Review a high volume of inbound applications for fully remote, fixed-term positions.
- Evaluate resumes against the client’s established qualifications and technical assessment criteria.
- Conduct initial candidate phone screens in English, typically six or more each day.
- Assess candidates’ relevant experience, communication skills, availability, interest, and general fit for the chance.
- Explain the position, work arrangement, hiring process, and next steps clearly and professionally.
- Record complete and accurate screening notes in the client’s applicant tracking system.




- Assign the correct candidate status and disposition after each application review and phone screen.
- Maintain a clean, current, and consistently updated candidate pipeline.
- Escalate qualified candidates and any screening concerns to the appropriate client stakeholders.
- Work closely with BizFirst and the client to maintain consistent screening standards throughout the hiring initiative.
- Help provide candidates with a professional and respectful experience, including those who aren’t selected to move forward.

What We Are Looking For

- Prior experience reviewing large volumes of applications and conducting structured phone screens.
- Ability to manage 10 or more candidate screens per day while also completing substantial application review and ATS documentation.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail when reviewing applications, recording screening notes, and updating candidate dispositions.
- Ability to apply established screening criteria consistently rather than relying only on résumé keywords.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, fully remote environment.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and time-management skills.
- Professional judgment when representing BizFirst and its client.




- Experience working within an applicant tracking system; Greenhouse experience is a plus.
- Experience recruiting for AI training, data annotation, content evaluation, or similar high-volume project-based roles is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with organizations such as Scale AI, Appen, TELUS Digital, Sama, iMerit, or a similar data-services company is a plus. Greenhouse preferred.

Engagement Details

- Independent contractor engagement through BizFirst.
- Approximately 40 hours per week.
- Initial assignment of approximately three to six months.
- Fully remote.
- The recruiter must be available during working hours that support candidates and client stakeholders across Canada.
- This recruiter will be dedicated to the client assignment throughout the engagement.
- The hiring initiative is expected to include approximately 50 hires initially, with the potential to expand significantly.
- Compensation will be based on experience and agreed upon before the engagement begins.
