As the Senior Packaging Development Specialist, you will collaborate with the design and production departments, and liaise with marketing consultants, while being responsible for designing artwork for packaging, creating labeling and packaging tech packs, sourcing new printing materials, communicating with offshore suppliers and more.

Packaging Development, Compliance & Innovation

- Create packaging and labelling tech packs in accordance with customer requirements, company standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Prepare packaging instructions and verify packaging, labelling, UPC, price ticket, and layout accuracy prior to production.
- Design and develop packaging artwork, including bellybands, boxes, labels, PDQs, and other packaging components; prepare mock-ups when required.
- Ensure compliance with labelling regulations and packaging requirements for all applicable countries, customers, and retailers. Communicate updates and changes to overseas offices and factories as needed.
- Support RFID testing submissions, including completion of required documentation, placement images, videos, and GTIN information.
- Review and approve packaging specifications, folding methods, packaging configurations, vendor pack details, hooks, SKUs, customer POs, and shipment release requirements.
- Provide creative and technical support for packaging-related materials, including artwork, photography, die-lines, graphics, and size charts.
- Research and evaluate emerging packaging trends, materials, finishes, structural designs, and retail presentation concepts to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Develop innovative packaging and PDQ solutions that enhance product presentation, shelf impact, consumer appeal, and shopability while remaining cost-effective and production-friendly.
- Collaborate with Sales, Design, Production, suppliers, and external partners to transform creative concepts into practical, executable packaging solutions.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve packaging design through graphics, imagery, color, layout, materials, and structural enhancements while maintaining customer and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor competitor, retailer, and industry packaging trends and proactively recommend new ideas, concepts, and best practices to improve product presentation and packaging performance.

Marketing Images:





- Confirm image requirements with sales team and prioritize requests based on deadlines and business needs
- Gather all necessary reference materials to share with freelancer: product boards, prints, colors, garment details, etc.
- Request and then confirm all required model and product images (front, side, detail shots)
- Calculate and share how many images are needed in total
- Provide format & specifications of pictures required by retailer
- Ensure images accurately represent the final production product
- Verify garment construction, artwork, colors, prints, trims and proportions
- Ensure required image specifications are met: high resolution, white background, format, dimensions, etc.
- Review images for accuracy and quality before final delivery
- Coordinate corrections/revisions when images are not accurate
- Organize and name final image files by customer/program/style
- Track outstanding images, revisions and deadlines
- Deliver approved final images to the appropriate design team for approval
- Maintain an organized archive of completed marketing images

What You’ll Bring

- 3–5 years of experience in packaging development, graphic design, production design, packaging artwork, or a related role, preferably within apparel, consumer goods, retail, or a product-based environment.
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Visual Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; InDesign experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience creating production-ready packaging artwork, die-lines, labels, bellybands, boxes, PDQs, hangtags, price tickets, and other packaging components.
- Experience developing and maintaining packaging and labelling tech packs, specifications, and production instructions.
- Strong understanding of packaging production processes, print methods, materials, finishes, color management, and artwork preparation for production.




- Knowledge of product labelling and packaging compliance requirements for Canada and the United States;

experience working with major retailer-specific packaging requirements is a solid asset.

- Experience working with UPCs/GTINs, price tickets, RFID requirements, product labels, and retailer packaging specifications.
- Experience reviewing packaging layouts and specifications for accuracy prior to production, with exceptional attention to copy, measurements, placement, color, product information, and regulatory details.
- Experience communicating directly with overseas suppliers, factories, printing vendors, and/or sourcing offices to develop, correct, and approve packaging.
- Ability to translate creative concepts into cost-effective, production-ready packaging solutions while balancing aesthetics, compliance, functionality, and customer requirements.
- Strong creative eye with an understanding of retail presentation, shelf impact, color, typography, layout, imagery, and current packaging trends.
- Experience preparing and reviewing product photography and marketing images for retail or e-commerce use, including image specifications, resolution, backgrounds, dimensions, file formats, and product accuracy.
- Ability to review product imagery against specifications and identify inaccuracies in construction, artwork, color, prints, trims, proportions, and product details.
- Strong project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple customers, programs, SKUs, artwork revisions, image requests, and production deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, particularly when working with regulatory information, customer requirements, artwork, and production specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Design, Sales, Production, suppliers, freelancers, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify packaging, artwork, compliance, or production issues before they impact timelines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where priorities may shift based on customer and production requirements.
- Experience in the apparel, fashion, wholesale, mass retail, or consumer products industry is considered a strong asset.
