Role Description

PicksHub is looking for a Founding Software Engineer to help build the technical foundation of the company.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants significant ownership early in their career and is excited by the opportunity to build products from the ground up.

You’ll work across the stack, contribute to architectural decisions, ship user-facing features, improve internal systems, and help shape the engineering standards we use as the company grows.

We are especially interested in strong new graduates and early-career engineers who may not have years of industry experience but have demonstrated that they can build, learn quickly, and take ownership.

What You'll Work On

- Build and ship features across the PicksHub web and mobile products
- Design and maintain backend services, APIs, and data systems
- Improve performance, reliability, and scalability
- Work closely with product and editorial teams to turn ideas into working software




- Help make technical and architectural decisions
- Build internal tools that improve how PicksHub operates
- Contribute directly to the long-term technical direction of the company

What We're Looking For

- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Experience building real projects, whether through internships, school, open source, startups, or personal work
- Comfort working across frontend and backend systems
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- High level of ownership and independence
- Interest in startups, sports, media, or consumer technology

A Computer Science degree or similar background is helpful, but not required if you can demonstrate solid technical ability. We care more about what you can build than how many years you’ve worked.

Compensation

This is a full-time paid position with a target salary of $80,000 CAD per year, depending on experience and fit.

As an early founding hire, there may also be opportunities for additional upside and greater responsibility as PicksHub grows.
