Position Description

This role is Hybrid and requires you to be in our Toronto, ON (minimum) 2 time per week.

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect – Databricks to lead and facilitate the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale Databricks solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Databricks, data architecture, ETL/data engineering, data modeling, Medallion Architecture, Unity Catalog, and DevOps/CI/CD practices. This is a senior, client-facing role requiring strong technical leadership as well as the ability to establish standards, guide engineering teams, facilitate architectural decisions, and ensure successful delivery.

The Solution Architect will work closely with architecture, engineering, data, delivery, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, aligned with enterprise architecture standards, and delivered within agreed timelines.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Databricks-based data solutions.

Own or facilitate the overall development strategy, engineering standards, tooling, and delivery approach.

Define and govern common ingestion patterns across APIs, SFTP, streaming, and other enterprise data sources.

Establish and promote Medallion Architecture implementation standards.

Define and guide Data Vault 2.0 and Kimball data modeling patterns.

Establish standards for Unity Catalog, data governance, and reusable data architecture.

Design and govern audit and reconciliation frameworks, including data validation and traceability.

Establish robust error handling, recovery, and restartability patterns for data pipelines.

Define CI/CD standards, coding conventions, reusable templates, and accelerators.

Lead architecture and design reviews and maintain technical decision logs.

Facilitate technical decision-making across architecture, development, data, and client stakeholder groups.

Review requirements, specifications, and solution designs and provide development estimates.

Lead release and sprint planning, validating estimates, resource requirements, dependencies, and required skill sets.

Monitor delivery against agreed scope, effort, quality, and schedule commitments.

Identify technical and delivery risks and drive appropriate resolution or escalation.

Act as a key client-facing technical contact for Databricks and data engineering delivery.





Provide technical coaching and mentorship to engineers and senior engineers.

Encourage innovation, knowledge sharing, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement across the team.

Key Competencies

Strong hands-on knowledge of Databricks architecture and enterprise data platforms.

Ability to define and own an overall technical and development strategy.

Robust solution architecture and solution design capabilities.

Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL, and modern data engineering practices.

Experience estimating and costing complex development efforts.

Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and engineering quality practices.

Experience leading technical teams or multiple engineering workstreams.

Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to assess technical risks, resolve complex problems, and facilitate architectural decisions.

Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and technical coaching capabilities.

Ability to collaborate effectively across architecture, engineering, delivery, and business teams.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant certifications are considered an asset, including:

Azure or AWS Cloud Certification – Associate level or higher

Professional-level Cloud Certification

Other relevant architecture, cloud, Agile,



or security certifications

"CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000–$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
