Our Opportunity

We have two exciting opportunities available for permanent, part-time Tow Motor Operators on our afternoon shift in our Inventory Support department at our Thorold Distribution Centre. Successful candidates must be available to work every Saturday from 3:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m., which is the required and guaranteed weekly shift.

Additional shifts on our afternoon shift may be available based on operational needs but are not guaranteed.



We are seeking candidates with flexible schedules who can reliably accept additional shifts when offered to support operational needs, including shifts that may be scheduled on holidays.

Main responsibilities:

- Working every Saturday from 3:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m., and working any additional weekday afternoon shifts as assigned based on operational needs, arriving on time and ready to work
- Receiving and completing tasks through our warehouse management system, ensuring the accuracy of our inventory and/or customer orders
- Operating a tow motor safely and efficiently to move inventory and orders throughout our distribution centre
- Picking pallets of product and transporting them to designated areas; putting away pallets of product for storage
- Loading and unloading pallets of product from trailers
- Working effectively and conscientiously with colleagues and demonstrating flexibility to support book-handling and material-handling tasks in various departments as needed
- This includes repetitively lifting, carrying and moving totes and boxes weighing approximately 45 lbs, and performing book-handling work that requires prolonged standing and repetitive movements, including walking, bending, squatting, reaching and twisting

- Maintaining Book Depot Inc.’s standards, productivity and accuracy levels
- Upholding safe and lean work procedures in accordance with Book Depot Inc.’s Health and Safety Program
- Other related responsibilities as required

Qualifications, skills, and abilities:

- Completion of grade 12 education or equivalent
- Experience as a forklift operator or similar role is an asset
- Positive attitude, punctual and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a high-performing and fast-paced work environment
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including every Saturday, additional shifts based on operational needs, and holidays
- Comfortable using computers for basic tasks
- Basic English communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong attention to detail, identifying and sharing continuous improvement opportunities
- Ability to work independently, while part of a team

Other considerations: Please note this is an onsite position at our Thorold, ON distribution centre.
