The Engineering Manager (EM) is responsible for implementing the execution strategy and stewarding engineering budgets and schedules. The EM ensures proper communication and coordination between engineering disciplines. This position coordinate with the department managers to ensure project and program (multiple projects) engineering teams are appropriately staffed. The EM develops client-specific work processes, aligned with Vista’s applicable process and procedures, as necessary to support the program.Duties of the role include:Working with the Calgary team, determine target markets, and potential clients within those marketsUsing and maintaining the Hubspot customer relations management systemAttending meetings with the BD team and reporting on any recent or developing opportunitiesApproaching potential clients through cold calls or industry functions, or by leveraging relationships from past dealingsConducting meetings, presentations, lunches, or other social outings to build relationships with potential or existing clientsEnsuring Vista is put on the bid list of potential client projects,



or is identified as a preferred supplier of engineering servicesPreparing professional, competitive proposals and information packages upon receipt of RFPs when requestedConducting lessons-learned sessions with members of the proposal team for both won and lost bidsPlanning and prioritizing personal sales activities and client contacts towards achieving agreed business goalsConducting market research, competitor analysis and client surveysUnderstanding the competition for each proposal or shortlisting of bidsIdentifying opportunities (via in-depth regional market knowledge) to expand the range of servicesProviding input into client functions, advertising, trinket items and the likeBeing aware of and participating in reviews of the quality objectivesAssisting leadership with manpower planning as impacted by potential won/lost bidsProviding customer feedback to the management team for Quarterly ReviewsRelying on experience, networking, and judgement to plan and accomplish goalsSupporting ad-hoc strategic initiativesPerforming other duties as requestedRequirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or applied scienceRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGAAbility to be registered as a Responsible Member with APEGAMinimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading teams and/or projectsProven ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teamsStrong knowledge of engineering project execution, planning, scheduling, resource management, and change managementStrong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirementsDemonstrated ability to develop project plans, coordinate technical activities, and manage competing prioritiesStrong client relationship, communication, negotiation, and conflict-management skillsStrong organizational, technical,



and decision-making skills with attention to detailStrong business awareness and experience supporting strategy development and executionProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to meet applicable safety requirements for site visitsPreferred
