Our team works globally to deliver safe, innovative, and sustainable solutions to clients.Lead, Transit Operations Maintenance and Storage Facilities – Role SummaryThe Lead provides technical leadership and expert guidance in the planning, design, delivery, commissioning, and operation of rail maintenance depots, storage yards, and associated systems. The role ensures facilities are safe, efficient, maintainable, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with operational requirements throughout the asset lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert advice on conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of train maintenance and storage facilities.Define and validate functional requirements for maintenance, stabling, cleaning, inspection, and repair activities.Review and approve technical documents, drawings, calculations, and specifications related to facilities and equipment.Advise on best practices and industry benchmarks for rail maintenance infrastructure.Ensure facilities support effective train movements, safe working practices, and maintainability.Coordinate facility design with rolling stock characteristics and maintenance concepts.Support development of maintenance strategies, workflows, and capacity planning.Evaluate operational readiness and contribute to commissioning and handover activities.Ensure compliance with relevant railway standards, codes, regulations, and safety requirements.Participate in safety reviews, hazard identification, and risk assessments.Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance.Identify technical risks and propose mitigation measures.Support project teams during procurement and contractor evaluations.Interface with civil, systems, rolling stock, and operations teams to ensure integrated solutions.Provide technical input during claims, change management,



and issue resolution.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge transfer.Education and ExperienceEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.10+ years of experience in rail or transit systems.Expertise in train maintenance and storage facility design and operation.Experience with recent build and/or brownfield depot projects.Familiarity with lifecycle asset management principles.Experience with various project delivery models (Alliance, PPP, Design‑Build, Design‑Bid‑Build, DfM, DfMA).Commissioning and operational readiness experience.Experience with sustainability, automation, or digital maintenance initiatives.Technical Skills & KnowledgeRail maintenance practices for rolling stock (metro, LRT, commuter, heavy rail).Depot and yard layout optimization.Maintenance equipment selection and integration.Interface management between facilities, rolling stock, and systems.Appreciation of applicable standards (e.G., local railway authority standards, EN, AREMA, NFPA, FRA, IEEE, APTA).Strong understanding of constructability, maintainability, and operability.Behavioral & Leadership CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.Collaborative mindset and multicultural teamwork.Independent work as a trusted technical authority.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Working ConditionsOffice‑based with periodic site visits.Travel to project sites, operational depots, and manufacturing facilities may be required.International travel may be required.CompensationSalary range: $180,000 – $260,000.
