Industrial MillwrightReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Millwright is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment and facilities and the fabrication of components, guards, or other items as required. The Maintenance Department operates on a three‐shift rotation and includes both Electrical and Millwright trades.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and remedy mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic problems in production areas.Perform duties as outlined by the Provincial Government in accordance with Regulated Trade 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright.Use all common hand tools to perform preventive maintenance on welders, weld fixtures, and all other equipment.Read, interpret, and use micrometers, verniers, and other precision instruments.Operate machine tools, lathes, mills, grinder drills, and similar equipment.Apply knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics to maintenance tasks.Align shafts and couplings, motors and drivers, and other components.Scrape and bed bearing ways, slides, and gibs.Determine causes of breakdowns and establish corrective actions.Evaluate press performance by sound and visual inspection, reporting conditions before unnecessary damage.Troubleshoot automatic lube systems, ensuring lubrication reaches all machine points.Remove broken equipment pieces, repair by welding, or refit and reassemble replacement parts.Determine wear points and appropriate slop for crankshaft bearings, Pittman bearings, knuckle joints, etc.Perform overhauls and major repairs on all plant machinery and equipment.Use air logic controls (pneumatic) and hydraulic logic controls competently.Sling, unload, and dismantle heavy equipment safely and efficiently.Know lifting capacities of cables, slings, chokes, shackles, and weighted chains, and apply lifting gear safely.Level machine foundations, grout as needed,



and achieve exact measurements for heavy equipment installation.Read and follow instruction manuals, blueprints, drawings, and sketches for proper installation and setup of heavy or light equipment.Dismantle, match‑mark, and identify all component parts for moving or shipping to other plants.Shine rods to proper tension, follow manufacturer recommendations, and set up gibs and bearing clearances for installation.Use acetylene equipment, torches, propane torches, or arc gouging torches with proper cal rod elements for ridge shrinking, welding, and brazing.Accurately lay out floor plans, positioning mounting holes for equipment placement.Perform all tasks with minimal supervisory assistance and guide apprentices or helpers as needed.Work in compliance with the Safety Act and related regulations.QualificationsMust hold a valid Ontario License Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities or have completed an apprenticeship of 8000 hours, or have eight years of practical experience in the skilled trade classification with proof of journey person designation.Desirable practical experience in a manufacturing environment (press, hydraulic, and stamping).Rate of Pay$43.34 per hour.
