Alberta Counsel is seeking an experienced and highly organized Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team in Edmonton.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to lawyers with busy litigation practices. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced qualified environment.

Key Responsibilities
Draft, prepare, and review pleadings, affidavits, applications, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents;
Prepare and file court materials in accordance with applicable rules, procedures, and deadlines;
Maintain litigation files, calendars, limitation dates, and procedural deadlines;
Coordinate examinations for discovery, mediations, hearings, trials, and other proceedings;
Organize and manage productions, undertakings, exhibits, and documentary evidence;
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and other parties;
Assist lawyers with trial and hearing preparation;
Manage electronic and physical files, including opening, maintaining, and closing matters;
Enter time, and assist with other administrative responsibilities; and
Provide general support to the legal team as required.

Qualifications




Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal diploma or certificate;
A minimum of three years of litigation experience is preferred;
Strong knowledge of the Alberta Rules of Court and applicable filing procedures;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities;
Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines;
Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, client-focused approach;
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion; and
Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience using Clio or other legal practice-management software is considered an asset.
