PTL Group is a Calgary-based HDD and hydrovac company specializing in underground utility construction. We're growing our operations across Alberta and British Columbia and are looking for an experienced HDD Locator to join our team.

What You'll Do
Locate HDD bore paths and work closely with the driller to complete safe and productive drill shots
Read and interpret utility locates, permits, blueprints and work orders
Identify utility conflicts and changing site conditions
Assist with underground conduit installation while protecting existing infrastructure
Maintain transparent communication with drillers and crew members
Complete required safety documentation and site responsibilities
Follow company safety policies and ground disturbance procedures

What You Bring




2+ years of hands-on HDD locating experience preferred
Shallow utility experience in telecommunications, power and/or gas
Robust knowledge of ground disturbance and underground utility safety
Ability to read utility locates, drawings, permits and bore plans
Valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean driver's abstract; Class 1 is an asset
Current Safety Tickets – CSTS 2020, Ground Disturbance Level II, Confined Space, H2S Alive
Strong communication skills and a reliable, safety-conscious work ethic
Calgary-area drilling and locating experience is an asset

Schedule & Compensation

$35.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience

Typically 5–6 days per week, depending on project requirements, with occasional out-of-town work.
