Job Description

DJ Mechanical is looking for a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our shop team in Whitecourt, Alberta.

This is a full-time, permanent position for an apprentice looking to build their skills and gain hands-on experience working on a wide variety of trucks, trailers and heavy equipment.

Working alongside experienced technicians, you’ll assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment used across the construction, transportation, forestry, oil & gas, material handling and agricultural industries.

Responsibilities
Assist with diagnosing, maintaining and repairing trucks, trailers and heavy equipment
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and routine service work
Assist with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs
Disassemble, repair and reassemble components under the direction of experienced technicians
Complete daily work orders and accurately track parts and materials used
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
Follow company safety procedures and industry standards
Work efficiently both independently and as part of the shop team




Continue developing technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship

Qualifications
Registered Heavy Equipment Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic apprentice preferred
3rd or 4th-year apprentices may be considered
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Previous experience working with trucks or heavy equipment is an asset
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and shop tools
Robust work ethic and attention to detail
Valid driver’s licence
Ability to work safely and follow direction

Ability to commute/relocate: Whitecourt, AB — reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $36.00-$40.50 per hour
