Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the radiology information system(s), preparing patients and setting up trays if applicable for specific procedures, and operating computerized imaging equipment. Other duties include processing and archiving acquired data, monitoring patient during procedures, and monitoring equipment performance.ResponsibilitiesPerforms examinations in CT in accordance with established procedures, including completing requisitions and related paperwork, correlating clinical history with examination, ensuring patient identification, positioning patients, explaining clinical procedures, performing venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed, operating imaging equipment,



labeling permanent records and checking technical results to ensure departmental standards.Monitors patient during procedures, observing and responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures; may be required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event of an emergency.Facilitates the workflow of the designated work area by checking information on requisitions meets departmental standards and arranging porters.Performs quality control duties such as scheduling and performing equipment tests in accordance with Diagnostic Accreditation Program requirements and manufacturer guidelines, recording results, identifying malfunctioning equipment, and notifying Supervisor.Maintains designated work area by cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays, stocking supplies, notifying Supervisor of depleted items as needed.Demonstrates procedures and usage of equipment to staff, participates in orientation of new employees and supervision of students.Responds to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding patient examinations and schedules, referring concerns to appropriate supervisor as required.Ensures health and safety rules, regulations and practices are met such as Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves, and Infection Control by reviewing changes and following up on recommendations.Participates in program enhancements for the department such as Quality Improvement, protocol development,



and provides input on hospital committees where Medical Imaging representation is required.Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with Supervisor and other health professionals.Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements and reports unsafe situations immediately.Maintains equipment by monitoring operation, reporting issues, and arranging maintenance and repairs as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT.Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography.One (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other national professional associations.Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the modality.Knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including safe work procedures with modality equipment.Knowledge of current CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care.Knowledge of research process and methodology.Knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, including digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients, families, co‑workers, physicians, other health staff.Ability to resolve conflict issues.Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Ability to plan and establish workload priorities with others.Skill in CT techniques and use of applicable equipment and supplies.Ability in CPR techniques.Computer skills with current applications.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.BenefitsCompetitive compensation package, four weeks of vacation in the first year, comprehensive health benefits, and a pension plan.EEO StatementFraser Health values diversity in the workforce and maintains an environment of respect, caring and trust.
