We are looking for dedicated professionals to serve as a Clinician for Community Mental Health, providing intensive individual and group therapy, crisis stabilization, and care coordination for adults in mental health and substance use crisis.What We’re Looking ForMaster’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology or other relevant health sciences discipline.At least two (2) years of recent, related experience working with clients and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Detailed OverviewIn accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Fraser Health, the Urgent Care Response Center (UCRC) supports adults in crisis requiring urgent care but not hospitalization. The Mental Health Clinician – Masters provides intake, screening, assessment, treatment recommendations, care coordination, and liaison with community resources to promote rapid engagement and continuity of care.ResponsibilitiesProvide treatment and support for complex situations, collaborating with clients to develop recovery‑oriented treatment plans and providing guidance on activities of daily living and transition of care.Deliver short‑term brief interventions, monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes as required.Offer individual and group therapy, including dialectical behavior therapy and other evidence‑based approaches, facilitate family involvement, and provide relapse‑prevention education.Support intake process, assess client needs, prioritize care, determine eligibility, and coordinate emergent crisis interventions.Serve as a liaison between the UCRC,



acute care facilities, and mental health centres, ensuring smooth continuum of care.Associate with community services and rehabilitative programs, research available services, and refer clients to appropriate alternatives.Coordinate with police, hospitals, crisis lines, and suicide prevention programs for inpatient admissions when necessary.Maintain accurate client records in PARIS or other clinical information systems, prepare progress notes, and comply with regulatory requirements.Advocate for clients, provide information on appeal processes and basic human needs, and facilitate access to ministry programs.Provide guidance to caregivers, health providers, and the public regarding intake procedures and available services.Promote quality improvement and risk management by recommending policy and procedural improvements.Participate in team planning, committee meetings, and board discussions to support program goals.Maintain statistical data on intakes and referrals, providing input to the Coordinator and Manager.Follow health and safety requirements, report unsafe situations promptly.Build and maintain linkages with community resources and professional associations to improve access.Stay current in mental health practice through literature review, professional development,



and continuing education.Participate in clinical research and program evaluation as requested.Perform related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceMaster’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology or related discipline; eligible for registration with the relevant professional association.Two (2) years of recent, related experience working with clients and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders.Valid Class V British Columbia driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.Skills and AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of mental health psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, de‑escalation, brief therapy, psychopharmacology, DSM‑V diagnosis, counseling theory, community response procedures, and resource utilization.Effective interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport with crisis‑prone clients, and collaborate with care providers.Solid verbal and written communication abilities.Excellent planning, problem‑solving, organization, and prioritization skills.Knowledge of violence de‑escalation and conflict resolution.Ability to work independently and self‑directed.Capability to facilitate group therapy and educational sessions.Basic computer literacy for client information systems, word processing, and e‑mail.Understanding of the Mental Health Act and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP).Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the central public health authority for the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley region, employing over 50,000 staff, medical personnel, and volunteers to deliver community‑based and hospital services.#J-18808-Ljbffr
