Global Relay has more than 25 years of experience providing enterprise information archiving solutions, capturing and preserving communications data for highly regulated firms to ensure compliance and visibility.Your roleThe Data Center Operations Specialist provides technical support for Global Relay’s mission‑critical data center facilities, server environments and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include specification, installation, testing of server and storage systems, development and maintenance of data center support systems, troubleshooting hardware, and monitoring tools. This role supports a modern data center site in Merritt, BC, and provides long‑term operational support as the facility grows.ResponsibilitiesAssist operations staff with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of servers, storage systems, peripheral equipment and software.Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with computer, mechanical and electrical equipment and related software.Interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi‑layered client/server setting.Create and maintain a well‑organized inventory of all equipment, parts, software licenses and maintenance agreements.Create and maintain detailed documentation on usage procedures and policies.Recommend and perform upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.Assess functional needs to determine specifications for purchases.Assist in maintaining the mechanical systems required to support the facility, including rear‑door cooling systems.Perform asset tracking and space provisioning tasks as part of equipment deployments.Receive, unpack, assemble, rack and cable servers,



storage systems and related components.Ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standards to achieve 100% uptime.Maintain service logs and records for electrical and mechanical equipment.Perform routine test procedures on redundant mechanical and electrical systems.Escort and supervise mechanical and electrical contractors to prevent system availability loss.Assist in periodic security reviews and audits.Perform rotating shift coverage, including night shifts and emergency coverage.Provide on‑call coverage to support operations outside regular business hours.Implement and manage monitoring tools.Mentor L1 and L2 Data Center Specialists.Manage automation tools for patching and security requirements.QualificationsMinimum six years as a Data Center Operations Specialist.Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or related field.Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux server environments.Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.Familiarity with mechanical equipment systems (CRAC, CRAH, evaporative cooling,



rear‑door cooling).Experience in a mission‑critical data center facility.Strong judgment in making critical decisions.Ability to lift and move large equipment safely.Working knowledge of VMware virtualization.Knowledge of a variety of server hardware configurations and maintenance, including high‑powered GPU systems.Collaborative and independent work skills in a complex environment.Comfortable working under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.Advanced hardware troubleshooting skills.Completion of training on HPE OneView or equivalent.Strong organization and initiative.Knowledge of scripting and automation tools, including PowerShell.Resourcefulness in problem solving.Excellent cable management skills.Familiarity with modern network topologies and SNMP monitoring tools.Experience with asset management systems such as Device42.Working conditions / physical requirementsMust be available after hours and/or weekends for emergency work, service‑impacting incidents or maintenance during off‑business hours.Must be able to work with heavy equipment.CompensationBase salary range: $70,000 CAD – $90,000 CAD (British Columbia).
