Job Summary
The Supervisor, Crew Scheduling provides day-to-day leadership within Crew Scheduling, supporting the team in delivering reliable and timely crew coverage across the operation. The position is responsible for establishing priorities, addressing operational challenges, and ensuring scheduling decisions align with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

During both normal and irregular operations (IROPs), the Supervisor, Crew Scheduling serves as a key point of escalation, assessing changing circumstances and coordinating appropriate solutions with internal stakeholders. The role works closely with Crew Planning, Flight Operations, SOCC, Airport Operations, and other departments to maintain operational continuity. In addition, the Supervisor, Crew Scheduling coaches and mentors the team along with assisting with complex scheduling decisions. The role also involves monitoring team performance, workload and promotes consistent application of company standards along with collective agreement requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day activities of the Crew Scheduling team, ensuring crew staffing decisions support operational requirements and comply with company policies, Flight Operations procedures, CARs, and other applicable regulations

Establish daily priorities, manage competing operational demands, and provide guidance on complex or escalated matters related to crew

Oversee month-of scheduling activities which include book-off monitoring and coordination of crew deadheads

Manage Crew Scheduling requirements during irregular operations (IROPs), making timely adjustments and communicating operational impacts to the Duty Officer and other key stakeholders

Represent Crew Scheduling at operational meetings and coordinate with internal departments to support effective operational decision-making

Lead recruitment and onboarding activities for new Crew Schedulers, including interviews, selection, and initial training

Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, performance feedback,



and training to Crew Schedulers, including addressing performance and disciplinary matters when required

Maintain departmental staffing schedules, including shift coverage and vacation planning, while monitoring sick accruals to support adequate staffing levels

Investigate and resolve crew inquiries, union inquiries and payroll-related issues, ensuring accurate and timely flight crew payroll submissions

Participate in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting hazards and incidents and supporting the company's Safety Policy

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

Minimum of two years of experience in Airline Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, or a comparable operational position

Experience using Skywise (formerly Navblue) N-OC, Lufthansa Netline, or similar crew scheduling platforms is preferred





Solid knowledge of CARs flight crew regulations

Ability to effectively manage high-pressure situations, shifting priorities, and multiple operational requirements simultaneously

Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate operational challenges and determine appropriate courses of action

Ability to consider the wider operational consequences of scheduling decisions and understand how changes may affect other areas of the business

Proficient with computer systems and able to learn new applications, tools, and technologies with minimal training

Willingness and availability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours based on operational needs

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently while maintaining professionalism

Demonstrates accountability, initiative, dependability, and effective decision making in a dynamic operational environment

Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with employees, management, and cross-functional teams

Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring employees, with the ability to provide direction and support to a team

Experience working in a unionized workplace is considered an asset
