Ready to help shape the future of Northern Alberta? Your story starts here. The Opportunity Reporting to the Director of Planning and Development Services, the Planner, Community Planning is responsible for administering and implementing the Town's land use planning and development framework.
Review and process development permit and other statutory planning applications.
Administer and interpret the Town's Land Use Bylaw and planning policies.
Provide professional planning advice to residents, developers, businesses, Council, and administration.
Prepare reports and recommendations for the Development Authority, Subdivision Authority, Committees, and Council.
Assist with statutory planning initiatives, policy development, and Land Use Bylaw updates.
Coordinate public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities.
Support community growth initiatives that advance Council priorities and long-term community development objectives.

What We're Looking For Your educational background includes a degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Community Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) is considered a solid asset.
Your experience includes:




Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning, development services, land use planning, or a related field.
Experience reviewing development permits, subdivision applications, and planning-related approvals.
Experience preparing reports and recommendations for senior leadership, boards, committees, or Council.
Knowledge of Alberta planning legislation, including the Municipal Government Act and land use planning processes.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. We welcome applications from early-career professionals, recent graduates, and individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
