(MCFSNB) is seeking an individual to join their team as anIntake and Investigation Social Worker(location to be determined).The Intake & Investigation Social Worker supports the organization’s goals and objectives through the delivery of professional intake & investigation services, after-hours emergency services and is accountable for decisions made relative to the assessment, prioritization and response to reports of abuse and or neglect.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive and assess referrals from a variety of sources, including Child and Family Services staff, walk‑in clients, educators, health professionals, medical staff, law enforcement, and other concerned individuals, to determine appropriate response and priority.Utilize the New Brunswick Structured Decision‑Making (SDM) Model to conduct initial screening assessments, determine the nature of alleged abuse and/or neglect, complete safety and risk assessments, establish response priorities, and initiate investigations or referrals to Child and Family Services Protection Workers as appropriate.Navigate and utilize the NB Families and mCase electronic child protection management systems to support accurate case assessments, identify the needs of children, improve consistency in case management, and contribute to effective service delivery and program planning.Provide After‑Hours Emergency Social Services by assessing and responding to urgent calls using the Structured Decision‑Making Model to ensure timely and appropriate support to member Mi’gmaq communities.Consult with and seek guidance from the Intake/Investigation Supervisor or designated clinical supervisor on decisions as required by legislation, professional standards,



and organizational policies.Work collaboratively with Child and Family Services teams and other organizational staff to support coordinated service delivery.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Directors, staff, and community partners through clear communication, mutual respect, and cooperation.Prepare, maintain, and safeguard accurate documentation and records, including assessments, reports, and case files, in accordance with organizational policies, legislative requirements, and standards for audit and court proceedings.Perform other related duties as required to support program operations and the overall team.Essential QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a registered member in good standing of the NBASW.Will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check & Prior Contact Check prior to appointment.Understanding and/or the appreciation of Mi’gmaq culture, values, and socio‑economic conditions.Preference will be given to qualified candidate with Indigenous ancestry.ExperienceIntake & Investigation Social Workers are expected to have a related educational background and clinical experience before they can begin working with families in crisis.Must have minimum of two (2) years experience working in child protection.Salary$1,604 to $1,970 weekly and a 15% adjustment for those working in protection as well as competitive pension and benefit programs.Travel throughout assigned communities can be expected for Field Worker positions. Positions will generally be based throughout member communities located in northern and eastern NB.
