DetailsLocation: WorkBC Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody)Posting period: May 1, 2026 - May 31, 2026Job DescriptionTheSummer Student Placement Specialist (SSPS)will be responsible for connecting youth between the ages of 15-30 to employers in their community. The SSPS will actively recruit youth through existing partners at the Tri-Cities WorkBC centres, youth workers, local high schools, post‑secondary institutions, Coquitlam School Board education centres, and local community agencies.While all youth will be provided services, special emphasis will be placed on recruiting youth with social or employment barriers including youth who are early leavers from high school, recent immigrant youth, youth living with disabilities, single‑parent youth, youth living in low‑income households, youth experiencing homelessness or precarious housing, and racialised youth.What you’ll be doing:Student EngagementImplement the youth engagement strategyVisit local high schools to promote the programmeConnect with youth via social media to promote employment servicesDevelop an online registration form for youth job seekers to completeConduct job search, resume and interview workshops for all youth job seekersConduct a screening interview to match youth’s interests to the employer’s needs where applicableConnect with youth job seekers weekly while job seekingEmployer EngagementImplement the summer jobs marketing planDevelop a marketing package with the YWCA Marketing Team to present to employers to actively solicit job postings for youthMeet with employers to present marketing packagesActively market our employment services to employersOrganise a youth hiring event with a minimum of five employersMatch suitable youth job seekers to vacant jobs or volunteer opportunitiesFollow up in week one and four of the job with both the employer and the youth to ensure success in the workplaceCreate community events around job fairs for youthAdministrationRecord all client information, contacts and updates on SharePoint with IT protocols in placeFurther develop our employer database with key contacts with wider YWCA job development teamDocument all employer contactsOther duties as requiredQualificationsTo take part in Canada Summer Jobs programme, youmust :Be aged between 15 and 30 years old at the start of your summer jobBe a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the jobBe legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations, including having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of your summer job(Please note: International students and other temporary residents are not eligible under Canada Summer Jobs programme requirements)Other RequirementsComfortable delivering presentations or workshops, with support and training providedWilling to engage in outreach activities,
