**Position Description**
The SPARC Innovation Hub supports strategic and high impact projects at Sick

Kids.

Technology platforms include mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation for proteomics, metabolomics, as well as high-throughput drug screening and discovery. provides the scientific community with expertise in quantitative proteomics, mass spectrometry, and biomarker discovery.

The successful candidate will operate and maintain mass spectrometry instrumentation, support sample preparation and method development, and contribute to the processing, analysis, and reporting of proteomics data for collaborating investigators.
**Here's What You'll Get To Do:**
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS instrumentation, including Bruker timsTOF, Sciex 8600 (including Sciex 8600 EchoMS), and Thermo Orbitrap Lumos platforms, for both DDA- and DIA-based proteomics workflows




· Perform sample preparation for proteomic analysis, including protein extraction, digestion, and depletion or enrichment protocols for a range of sample types (plasma, serum, tissue, cell lysates)
· Develop and optimize acquisition methods and sample preparation protocols in collaboration with investigators
· Process and QC mass spectrometry data using proteomics software tools, and prepare reports summarizing results for collaborating principal investigators
· Maintain instrument logs, calibration records, and standard operating procedures
· Manage sample intake, tracking, and prioritization for core facility service projects
· Communicate directly with investigators regarding project design, sample requirements, timelines, and results
· Work collaboratively with bioinformatics and other core facility staff to integrate proteomics data into broader analysis pipelines
· Contribute to training of students, fellows, and staff on mass spectrometry methods
· Stay current with emerging proteomics technologies and methods
**Here's What You'll Need**
**Essential requirements:**
· Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Proteomics, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, with relevant hands-on mass spectrometry experience
· Demonstrated experience operating LC-MS/MS instrumentation in a proteomics or analytical chemistry setting
· Experience with quantitative proteomics workflows (DDA and/or DIA)
· Proficiency with mass spectrometry data analysis software (e.g., Max

Quant, Spectronaut, DIA-NN, Skyline, or similar)
· Strong understanding of proteomic sample preparation techniques
· Ability to manage multiple service projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
· Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communications
· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
· A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
**Preferred Qualifications:**
· Experience with affinity selection mass spectrometry (AS-MS)




· Experience with Sciex ZenoTOF 8600 or Bruker timsTOF platforms and PASEF/DIA-PASEF acquisition
· Experience with biological fluid proteomics (plasma/serum) and associated depletion or enrichment methods
· Familiarity with statistical or bioinformatics tools (e.g., R, Python) for downstream proteomics data analysis
· Experience in a core facility or fee-for-service research setting
· Experience training or supervising junior staff
· Record of scientific publications
