The Wilderness Committee has an exciting opportunity for a passionate environmental activist and experienced door-to-door fundraiser interested in becoming part of our dynamic and diverse team across the country. Based in person in our Winnipeg field office, this is a 4-month term position , with the possibility of extension, based on a full time 32-hour, 4-day per week (Mon-Thurs).
The Wilderness Committee is a grassroots, people powered wilderness preservation group with a history of 45years on the front lines of environmental battles across Canada, with offices in Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg and Toronto. Recognizing that enshrining Indigenous rights and title is fundamental to addressing the biodiversity and climate crises, we have helped protect millions of hectares of wilderness, defended the most at-risk species in government offices and court rooms, and worked tirelessly to fight irresponsible fossil fuel development wreaking havoc on the climate as we advocate for a just transition to a post-carbon society.
As the successful candidate, you'll have experience with door-to-door canvassing and understand the opportunities for environmental activism and fundraising through one-to-one neighbourhood outreach and engagement. You welcome the opportunity to develop, coordinate and strengthen a canvass team, including promotion, hiring and training of canvassers. As a organized, detail-oriented individual, you enjoy a diversity of tasks from scheduling canvass turf rotation, preparing and distributing maps to coordinating campaign briefings,



to reviewing and monitoring performance in our Salesforce CRM database to reconciling canvasser cashouts. In addition, the Manitoba Canvass Coordinator participates in organizational fundraising strategies on improving member and donor acquisition, retention and increases. The Manitoba Canvass Coordinator is an in-person position in the Winnipeg office and responds to phone, email and drop-in inquires as needed and works with the staff team to handle other operational needs.
As the Manitoba Canvass Coordinator, you will be responsible for: Supporting the organization's fundraising and outreach goals through the canvass team
Building strong relationships with our donors and canvassers
Recruiting, hiring and training canvassers for our door-to-door canvass team
Producing and assigning canvass maps, monitoring canvass progress and coordinating call backs
Monitoring canvass progress and performing cash out and payroll duties
You will have: Demonstrated understanding of non-profit fundraising strategies and challenges, including previous door-to-door canvass experience
At least 2 years’ experience supervising others with the ability to problem solve and maintain positive team spirit
Previous use of Salesforce CRM fundraising and donor management software
Demonstrated human resources skills




Excellent written and verbal communication strong relationship building skills
Impressive organization skills with an eye for details
2 years’ experience in administrative and financial tasks such as budgeting, tracking, reporting and working with cash
Strong computer skills including Windows and Microsoft Office
Thorough geographical knowledge of Vancouver
A current driver’s license

Conditions of employment: This is a term-certain unionized position with BCGEU Local 2003 and thus all pay and benefits are determined by the Collective Agreement.
