About You As McGovern Hurley's next Associate, Tax, you'll do more than build your tax career - you'll build the expertise to become a trusted advisor. Dive into complex corporate, trust, and partnership tax engagements, sharpen your compliance skills, and grow your tax advisory, strategy, and planning capabilities as you take on more responsibility.
With exposure to dynamic industries like mining and technology, you'll gain the breadth of experience to drive client success. As an ambitious CPA candidate, you bring curiosity, proactivity, and a sharp eye for detail - and you're ready to grow alongside a collaborative, high-performing team.
Your Key Responsibilities Prepare and review corporate, trust,
and partnership tax returns acrossarange of complexity, delivering accuracy, precision, and exceptional client service.
Support end-to-end tax compliance engagements by gathering, organizing, andvalidatingclient financial information to ensureaccurate, complete, and CRA-compliant filings.
Build and apply strong technical knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, CRA guidance, and evolving tax legislation across a diverse client portfolio.
Contribute to tax compliance and regulatory initiatives by preparing and filing election forms and other required documentation with a focus on quality and accuracy.
Drivetechnical excellence through in-depth tax research,identifyingrisks and delivering practical, client-focused insights, summaries, and recommendations.
Analyze financial, accounting, and tax data to generate meaningful insights that support compliance requirements and inform broader tax advisory initiatives.
What You Bring Enrolled in a Master of Accounting program at an accredited post-secondary institution, with a commitment to pursing the CPA designation.
Passionate about public accounting, eager to learn, and excited to dive into real client engagement work, taking on new challenges with confidence.
Technically proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) with a knack for picking up new tools and technology quickly.
Confident communicator with stronginterpersonalskills, ready to engage clients professionally and collaborate seamlessly with others.
Strong organizational and execution skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines with confidence.
Demonstrated alignment with McGovern Hurley's values of collaboration, respect, accountability, integrity, and quality.
Proven experience in client- or customer-facing roles, engaging clients professionally and delivering a positive experience –a definite plus.
