The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join the Hospital at Night Team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This unique role offers the chance to work across a variety of acute specialties, providing essential clinical and non-clinical support to patients and multidisciplinary teams during out-of-hours periods. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care while supporting the smooth running of hospital services overnight. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Part-time, Permanent

You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Working Pattern: 20:00pm - 07:00am

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake a range of clinical procedures including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording and patient observations





Support the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care across a variety of specialties

Monitor patient conditions and promptly elevate any concerns to the Hospital at Night Team and clinical staff

Assist with specimen collection, diagnostic testing and the safe transportation of equipment, medications and patient records

Maintain accurate patient documentation including observation charts, fluid balance records and assessment tools

Provide practical and clinical support to nursing, medical and allied health professionals

Communicate effectively with patients, carers and colleagues to ensure secure and coordinated care

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification

Healthcare Support Worker training, SVQ qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant healthcare setting

Highly competent in venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recording

Significant experience delivering direct patient care within a healthcare environment

Sound knowledge of basic patient care and the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Ability to work independently and flexibly, with night shift working forming an essential part of the role
