We’re looking for a Strategy Consultant (SC), Marketing at Tegrita, which is a 100% remote organization. We come together throughout the year, but there is no office to ‘return to’. This job posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.

What is a Strategy Consultant (SC)?

Strategy Consulting is the creative bridge between an idea and execution. SCs take client needs, challenges, and sometimes kernels of ideas and turn them into clear, practical work that Tegrita can deliver. They set the approach, create scope, and stay involved in delivery to make sure the work continues to serve the business objective and creates the experience we intended for the client.

At Tegrita, SC operates at the project level, connecting other teams who own client growth, day-to-day-delivery and technical solutioning by defining what the work should be, giving teams explicit direction, recognizing when something is going off course, and helping determine what should happen next.

SCs are not a project manager, account manager, or technologist. You need to understand how all three areas affect the work, but your job is to stay focused on the bigger picture. You bring creativity and strategic thinking together to make ideas possible, then help keep the work valuable, useful, and aligned as reality inevitably changes the plan.

Why should I apply?

If you’re excited by the talent profile of a Strategy Consultant. If you read the statements below and think “That’s me!”

- You LOVE getting the spark of an idea, messy problem, or vague client comment and figuring out what it should become.
- You naturally connect ideas, client needs, past work, and patterns to determine what should happen next.
- You get excited by possibilities, but only if you can turn them into something real, useful, and deliverable and keep it moving until it gets there.
- You can take a small signal or loose idea and shape it into work a client would be genuinely excited to move forward with.
- You naturally think several steps ahead, anticipating risks, dependencies, client reactions, and downstream implications before they become problems.
- You care more about whether the work is right than whether everyone followed the original plan.
- You move quickly when something goes wrong, take ownership of solving it, and look for what needs to change so it does not keep happening.
- You notice when something is technically correct but still not good enough for the client or the intended outcome.
- You are comfortable taking control of the work without needing to control everyone doing it or just doing it yourself.
- You are comfortable correcting anyone when you think they are headed in the wrong direction, and help find a better path forward.
- You can move people toward a unified decision or outcome even when they start with different perspectives.
- You can zoom into the details long enough to understand what matters, then get back out and make a decision.
- You understand that the best answer still has to work in the real world, balancing client needs, business value, time, technology, and capabilities.
- You rarely see a project as a one-off. When something works, repeats, or reveals a broader need, you start thinking about how to make it better and repeatable.

What does an SC do? The first month will include training on Tegrita, our ways of working,

our services, and how SC partners with other function. You will shadow experienced consultants on scoping and active project work, contribute alongside them, and learn the standards and tools that shape how we work. By the beginning of month 2, you can expect to be independently scoping well-defined work and serving as the SC on assigned client projects, with support available as you take on increasing complexity.

From there, this is a performance role. You will be expected to contribute independently across both scope development and project delivery, with the complexity, ambiguity, and level of direction varying based on hiring level.

A successful SC will quickly become someone the team can rely on to turn ideas into well-designed work, move scope forward efficiently, and help keep client work strategically sound through delivery. Day-to-day you’ll:

- Turn client goals, challenges, and ideas into clear, documented approaches and plans that will guide the real work.
- Lead scope development by defining the work, sequencing, deliverables, assumptions, dependencies, risks, required decisions, and appropriate level of effort.
- Create scopes that clearly communicate the business reason for the work, demonstrate Tegrita’s expertise, support Client Strategy in moving opportunities forward, and give Client Engagement and Technology Consulting enough direction to deliver successfully.
- Prepare for and lead scoping discussions, strategic working sessions, and other client conversations where consulting leadership is needed.
- Translate approved scope into clear delivery direction so Client Engagement and Technology Consulting understand the intent, priorities, requirements, and important watchouts.
- Serve as the consulting lead on assigned projects by staying informed on progress, understanding what has changed, and keeping the intended outcome and client experience visible.
- Recognize risks, gaps, dependencies, and opportunities that may not be obvious to others.
- Identify and guide project pivots when client needs, findings, constraints, or delivery realities require the original approach to change.
- Review strategic deliverables and recommendations to ensure they are clear, useful, cohesive, and appropriate for the client and intended audience.
- Help teams distinguish between what a client asks for and what they actually need to achieve the intended outcome.
- Partner closely with Client Strategy, Client Engagement, and Technology Consulting, knowing when to provide direction, ask questions, challenge an approach, escalate a concern, or get out of the way.
- Identify opportunities for additional work when project findings or client needs point to a valuable next step, then turn those opportunities into scope that Client Strategy can take forward.
- Apply learning from individual projects to make future scope, delivery approaches, services, and SC standards better.
- Stay broadly informed on relevant marketing, customer experience, revenue, and technology trends so recommendations reflect how clients are operating now.

What does an SC earn? Level of experience and demonstrated ability to independently navigate scope development, consulting delivery, ambiguity, and complexity will determine hiring level. We are organized on a 5 level matrix, and this SC position is open to Level 2 or Level 3. Throughout our hiring process, we will assess experience and demonstrated capabilities to determine level.

Minimum starting salary for Level 2 is $70,000 and Level 3 is $95,000 annually.

In addition to the base salary for all roles, job-relevant education, certifications, subject matter expertise and over time, demonstrated contributions and tenure will bump up the base salary. Starting salary bumps will not exceed $7,000 and typically average $2,000 - $4,000. We also offer monthly bonuses for work hours contributed, enabling consultants to earn an additional $1,000 - $3,000 annually directly linked to personal performance.

How do we hire?

We know it’s tough for candidates and workers right now and do our best to balance what we need to identify people who will be successful at Tegrita and what we are asking for candidates. It’s not about jumping through hoops e.g. whether or not you submit a cover letter doesn’t impact your ability to do this job, so it won’t impact your success in getting hired.

We have a transparent and consistent hiring process based on a philosophy of hiring for the talents that will make it possible for our new team member to get to do what they do best, everyday.

We identify these talents through our 5 step hiring process, we notify candidates if we are declining at every stage; we won’t ask you to continue to put in effort when we’ve decided.

1. Screener - 2-3 min survey that helps us identify any one who could not possibly be successful in this role, whose talents are too far from who would thrive as a SC. It is not a reflection of you, it is a tool to save you time working towards a job you’d probably hate.
2. Ready to apply? Complete the screener here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2LD6VCB?source=linkedin
3. Scenario: 1-2 hours in total across a written exercise and video discussion
4. Part One: written exercise.
5. Part Two: successful candidates will be invites to a live Zoom discussion with a member of Tegrita’s Exec team about your submission.
6. The scenario is designed to show us how you’d approach the kinds of things you’d be doing every day in this role and to give you a real taste of what part of your days would entail as a Strategy Consultant.
7. We never use the work submitted for commercial purposes and we do our best to design the scenario to be unusable to us outside of hiring.
8. Structured Interview - 30-40 minute phone interview with a 3rd party partner who's an expert in interviewing to uncover talents at work. The structured interview focuses on identifying the core traits and ways of thinking that make for a successful Tegritan.
9. Executive Team Interview - 30-45 minute video call. You will meet our Executive team who will ask you some questions and give you a chance to ask any questions you have.
10. Peer Interview - On this final 30-45 minute video call you'll connect with another 3 people from the team who you'd be working with regularly. You’ll have the opportunity to assess if these are people you’d want to work with and hear about Tegrita from someone who isn’t in leadership.
