Description:

The work consists mainly of assisting the Senior Advisor - Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition and her team in the research and sustainable development process of the City of Pointe-Claire. The student will assist the advisor in tasks related the climate plan and all other sustainability projects.

General responsibilities and goals:

Tasks to be accomplished:

- Support the development of strategies for decarbonization, climate change adaptation, and biodiversity in the city.
- Collect data and conduct analyses related to the above strategies and prepare environmental reports.
- Conduct research and literature reviews related to the city’s climate plan and other sustainability projects and make recommendations.
- Help with environmental campaigns and creation of communication products as needed.
- Support public consultation activities, including the production of information materials and the coordination of logistics.
- Help prepare kiosks for municipal events.
- Attend certain city events related to sustainable development.
- Be responsible for the Green Line, responding to citizens’ questions and requests related to the urban environment.




- Deliver environmental presentations to elementary school classes of approximately 20 students.
- Provide any other support necessary for the advisor to perform her duties.
- Some tasks may change as projects progress and current priorities are established.

Job requirements:

To be considered for this job, the candidate must have been a student at an institution recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation immediately prior to being hired and must be enrolled for the upcoming academic year.

- At least one year of completed university studies in engineering, geomatics, environmental studies, biology or any other related field
- Good knowledge of the environmental realities faced by municipalities
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English and French
- Knowledge of Windows environment software (Word, Excel)
- Valid class 5 driver’s licence
- Positive analytical skills and resourcefulness
- Ability to work in a team environment and good interpersonal communication skills;
- High level of independence
- Ability to interact with children, teenagers, and adults, and confidence speaking in front of a group.

Schedule:

35 hours per week
Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus 45 minutes for lunch, Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for municipal events
Duration: 4 months (with the option to extend for an additional 4 months)
