Bird Stairs is looking for a capable and curious individual to join our team as a Junior Estimator.

This is an entry-level position focused on reviewing construction drawings, completing material takeoffs, preparing estimates, and providing accurate pricing for the products and systems we supply.

While estimating will be the immediate focus of the role, we believe artificial intelligence will become an important part of how takeoffs, pricing, and quotations are completed in the future. We want the successful candidate to work with management and our estimating team to actively explore, test, and help develop practical AI-assisted estimating processes.

We are not looking for a software developer or an AI expert. We are looking for someone who is good with numbers, comfortable with technology, eager to learn, and genuinely interested in helping us find better ways to do the work.

Key Responsibilities

- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Complete material takeoffs and quantity calculations.
- Prepare estimates, quotations, and supporting documentation.
- Obtain and apply current material costs and pricing information.
- Work with sales, operations, suppliers, and clients to confirm project requirements.
- Help initiate the process of having Bird Stairs products included in tender specifications.
- Maintain organized estimating records and follow up on outstanding information.
- Learn our products, systems, pricing practices, and customer needs.
- Work with management to research and test AI-assisted takeoff, pricing, and estimating tools.
- Help document and improve digital estimating processes as the company’s capabilities develop.




- Contribute to the longer-term development of an AI-assisted estimating system that can eventually work with our broader business systems.

What We Are Looking For

Education or experience in construction, engineering technology, architectural technology, estimating, or building-material sales would be helpful but is not required.
