The S&TC; Lead is the technical authority for signalling, train control, and associated rail communications and control interfaces. The role bridges field maintenance, operations, and engineering to support safe train movement, fault investigation, maintenance optimization, reliability, and controlled technical change.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as the subject-matter expert for signaling, interlockings, wayside equipment, train detection, crossings, train-control interfaces, communications interfaces, and associated power/network elements.
- Review daily work orders to verify quality, completeness, and correct FRACAS coding.
- Support field troubleshooting, fault isolation, event playback, testing, and restoration of complex or recurring service-affecting defects.
- Review logs, alarms, event records, test results, technical drawings, and work orders to identify risks and corrective actions.
- Establish, monitor, and improve preventive-maintenance and testing plans, job plans, and inspection intervals.
- Verify the technical compliance and quality of completed maintenance work.
- Lead or support root-cause analyses, signal-event reviews, alarm-trend analysis, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Support lifecycle renewals, software/hardware upgrades, spare-parts planning, repairable management, and obsolescence control.
- Conduct periodic field and paperwork audits to ensure testing and maintenance records meet approved requirements.
- Develop and update procedures, test protocols, troubleshooting guides, technical instructions, and configuration records.
- Manage technical change and configuration-control inputs, including safety, operational, and maintenance impact assessments.
- Participate in Failure Review Boards, Change Control Boards, task forces, and technical working groups.
- Interface with the Owner, Operator, signalling suppliers, communications vendors, and specialist subcontractors.




- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Diploma in electronics, electrical, communications, controls, or related engineering technology; an engineering degree is acceptable.
- Five or more years of relevant signalling, train control, industrial controls, communications, or rail/transit maintenance experience.
- Experience with safety-critical systems, fault/event analysis, testing, and configuration management is preferred.
- OACETT certification or eligibility is preferred; P.Eng. or EIT status is an asset.
- Strong analytical, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder-management skills.

Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of:

- Rail signalling, interlockings, train detection, crossings, train-control systems, communications interfaces, and associated power/network elements.
- FRACAS, work-order quality, root-cause analysis, failure review, alarm-trend analysis, and corrective-action management.
- Preventive maintenance, inspection and testing programs, configuration management, and controlled technical change.
- Safety-critical system troubleshooting, fault isolation, event playback, testing, restoration, and technical documentation.
- Lifecycle renewals, software/hardware upgrades, spare-parts planning, repairable management, and obsolescence control.
- Stakeholder coordination with Owners, Operators, suppliers, vendors, and specialist subcontractors.

Ability to read and interpret:

- Signal and train-control drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams,



interface documents, and configuration records.
- System logs, alarms, event records, diagnostic outputs, test results, and maintenance history.
- Maintenance procedures, test protocols, technical instructions, specifications, and work orders.
- Safety, operational, and maintenance impact assessments associated with technical changes.

Working Conditions

- Work is performed in office, maintenance-shop, wayside, and live rail/transit environments as required.
- Regular field presence may be required for troubleshooting, testing, audits, investigations, and restoration activities.
- May be required to respond to service-affecting or safety-critical failures outside normal business hours.
- Must comply with applicable rail-safety, electrical-safety, access-control, and safe-work requirements.

Compensation

- Salary range - $95,000-$110,000
