**Formwork Carpenter**

**Job Description**

This role involves working on concrete formwork projects across multiple sites in Abbotsford, Mission, and Surrey, focusing on tilt-up construction and architectural concrete.

You will read and interpret blueprints, assist with layouts, and build a variety of structural elements including panels, footings, slabs, retaining walls, and stairs.

The position offers consistent work, opportunities to grow into leadership roles, and exposure to light industrial and architectural concrete projects.

**Responsibilities**

+ Meet with site leadership at the start of each day to review priorities and work areas.
+ Participate in daily toolbox meetings to receive task assignments and safety updates.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to understand project specifications and layout requirements.
+ Assist in building concrete panels, footings, slabs, retaining walls, and stairs according to plans and quality standards.
+ Support the preparation of footing, slab, panel, and underground layouts, including selecting materials, planning work sequences, and determining methods of work.
+ Perform tilt-up construction activities for light industrial and architectural concrete projects.
+ Form and set panels for tilt-up structures such as schools, production facilities, and other concrete buildings.
+ Install and align formwork using appropriate tools to ensure accuracy, plumb, and level structures.
+ Handle, place, and secure formwork materials safely and efficiently on site.
+ Use and maintain carpentry tools, including hammer, tape measure, squares, levels, and utility knife, to complete daily tasks.
+ Follow construction plans and instructions from supervisors to complete work within project timelines.
+ Adhere to safety procedures and participate actively in maintaining a safe work environment.
+ Collaborate with other carpenters, apprentices, and trades on site to complete tasks as a team.
+ Support tilt-up and concrete operations across multiple job sites as required.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are stored safely at the end of each shift.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum 2+ years of experience in construction as a carpenter.
+ Experience with formwork and concrete carpentry, including panels, footings, slabs, retaining walls, and stairs.
+ Hands-on experience with tilt-up construction in an industrial or light industrial environment.
+ Ability to understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
+ Strong understanding of footing, slab, panel, and underground layout processes, including material selection and sequencing of work.
+ Proficiency with standard carpentry tools such as hammer, tape measure, squares, levels, and utility knife.
+ Ability to supply and use personal hand tools, tool belt, and required PPE.
+ Strong communication skills to work effectively with site leadership and team members.
+ Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
+ Ability to work overtime regularly, including 3–4 days per week, to reach 45–50 hours total.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Experience with architectural concrete projects, particularly in residential or custom builds.




+ Background in industrial or light industrial concrete formwork environments.
+ Interest in growing into lead or foreperson roles with support from leadership training.
+ Willingness to participate in additional training programs and tickets provided by the employer.
+ Ability to adapt to different project types, including schools, production facilities, and residential concrete structures.

**Work Workplace**

This role is based on active construction sites focused on concrete formwork, including tilt-up and architectural concrete projects.

Current and upcoming sites include an architectural concrete house in Mission, a tilt-up school in Abbotsford, a tilt-up production facility, and additional tilt-up work in Surrey.

You will work primarily outdoors and in partially enclosed structures, often around active concrete operations and heavy equipment.

Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with regular overtime past 3:00 p.m. on 3–4 days per week, totaling about 45–50 hours weekly over a 5–8 schedule.

You will use typical carpentry and formwork tools such as hammers, tape measures, squares, levels, utility knives, and other related equipment, along with appropriate PPE.

The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and physically demanding, requiring consistent adherence to safety practices and site procedures.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
