**Job Title: Data Technician 1** **Job Description**
The Data Technician 1 supports the construction and commissioning of large-scale data centers by performing a variety of hands-on tasks in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

In this role, you work alongside experienced data center professionals to move materials, install and route cabling, organize the site, and complete general labor activities.

You gain valuable exposure to structured cabling, copper and fiber optics, networking infrastructure, and overall data center operations, making this an excellent opportunity to build a career in the rapidly growing data center industry.

**Responsibilities**

+ Assist with the construction and commissioning of large-scale data centers under the guidance of experienced technicians and site leads.
+ Support material handling and movement, including loading, unloading, staging, and organizing equipment and cabling on site.
+ Perform cable installation activities such as pulling, routing, dressing, and terminating low-voltage data cables, copper, and fiber optic lines.
+ Use hand tools and basic electrical tools safely and effectively to support cable pulling, mounting hardware, and related construction tasks.
+ Help maintain site organization by keeping work areas clean, orderly, and compliant with safety standards on a construction site.
+ Work on ladders, overhead cable trays, and raised floors to install and manage cabling and related infrastructure components.
+ Carry out general labor duties as required, including lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

+ Collaborate with team members through transparent verbal and written communication to coordinate tasks and ensure accurate documentation where needed.
+ Adapt to different shifts and rotational schedules, including FIFO-style rotations, while maintaining reliability and punctuality.
+ Follow all safety procedures and site rules, including working in dusty construction environments and air-cooled spaces that may be cold in winter.
+ Participate in new construction projects and refurbishment work, supporting upgrades, expansions, and modifications to existing data center facilities.
+ Contribute to cable splicing and related detailed work while seated for extended periods, maintaining focus and quality throughout the shift.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum of several months of construction experience in a related field such as electrical work, general labor, or telecommunications.
+ Hands-on experience or familiarity with low-voltage work, including data cabling and basic electrical tasks.
+ Ability to pull and route wire and data cables, including copper and fiber optic cabling, in a construction or industrial environment.
+ Comfort using common hand tools and basic construction tools safely and efficiently.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with supervisors, team members, and other trades on site.
+ Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) or similar safety training certification is an asset.




+ Experience working with data center infrastructure such as power systems, cooling equipment, racks, and cabling is an advantage.
+ Previous data center experience, including construction, commissioning, or operations support, is highly beneficial.
+ Background in telecommunications cabling, structured cabling, or fiber optic installation is an asset.
+ Experience working in remote or rotational work environments, including camp-style accommodations, is helpful.
+ Ability to remain focused while performing repetitive tasks such as cable splicing for extended periods.
+ Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary crew.
+ Good organizational skills to help maintain orderly work areas and manage tools and materials efficiently.

**Work Environment**
You work on active construction and refurbishment sites for large-scale data centers, in an air-cooled atmosphere that can be cold during winter and often dusty due to ongoing construction activities.

The role involves living in hotels or camp-style accommodations with the crew, with travel to and from sites arranged via carpooling or buses.

There are three primary shifts and associated living situations: a 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. shift based in one location with bus commuting to another site (with commuting time paid), a 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. shift based at the primary site, and an 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. overnight shift also based at the primary site.

Some shifts offer both Saturday and Sunday off, while others provide Sunday only, and overtime varies by shift.

You spend much of your time at a workstation or designated area, often seated and performing detailed tasks such as splicing cables, while also moving around the site to support installation and general labor activities.

The environment is construction-focused, with standard workwear appropriate for a construction site and the need for personal protective equipment as required by site safety policies.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Mackenzie, BC.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Mackenzie,BC.
