Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a Visual Arts & Illustration Instructor who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping students grow creatively.

This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in the visual arts who can support and inspire students as they develop their artistic skills, explore creative ideas, and build strong portfolios.

- Develop and deliver engaging lessons focused on portfolio development for secondary and post-secondary school applications.
- Provide individualized feedback and guidance tailored to each student’s strengths, interests, and goals.
- Assist students in creating and organizing their work into cohesive, compelling portfolios.
- Introduce students to a range of traditional and digital art techniques and practices.
- Encourage experimentation with different styles, materials, mediums, and creative approaches.
- Develop and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students preparing for arts and design programs or professional opportunities.




- Stay up to date with current trends, portfolio standards, and application requirements for competitive art and design programs.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Illustration, Visual Arts, Design, Animation, or a related field.
- Strong personal portfolio demonstrating a range of artistic skills, creativity, and technical proficiency.
- Proficiency in both traditional art mediums and digital tools, including Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with and support students effectively.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans and provide constructive, individualized feedback.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different skill levels, learning styles, and student goals.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment.
- Previous teaching, mentoring, or workshop experience is considered an asset.

Schedule

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Applicants should be available to work in person at:

Typical teaching hours are:

- Weekdays: 4:00 PM–8:00 PM
- Weekends: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
