My name is Heather Andrew, and I am the Owner of the Aspen Wellness Centre in Edmonton. Our mission is to provide trauma informed care to our clients, rooted in empathy and compassion.

The Aspen Wellness Centre is conveniently and centrally located in South East Edmonton just off the Whitemud, near Gateway Blvd. This location provides prime access to clients in Edmonton and Sherwood Park.

The current position available is for a Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Social Worker who can provide service for in-person and virtual sessions. We are seeking a contractor who is available to work approximately 10 hours per week. As your caseload builds, you have the option to work more hours, but this is not required. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is comfortable operating independently with minimal supervision, highly motivated to grow their caseload and provide an excellent standard of care.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Social Worker with specialized experience treating trauma and grief, and other mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, relationship issues, etc. The ideal candidate must have relevant training or certification in trauma informed interventions such as EMDR, ART, EFT, ACT, Grief Recovery Method or Trauma Focused CBT. The clinician must be comfortable and experienced providing mental health therapy for Indigenous populations, and individual youth and adults.

Compensation

Contractors will be paid a competetitive fee % for each session completed. Rate of compensation is based on relevant experience level and qualifications.



Contractors have agency to choose whether they offer sliding scale fees to clients which is compensated at a lower rate, subject to approval by Aspen Wellness Centre.

Location

Our office is located at 101-9622 42 Ave NW, in Whitemud Business Park in South East Edmonton. This location provides easy access to Central, South and East Edmonton as well as Sherwood Park as we are just south of the Whitemud. All our therapy offices have floor to ceiling windows with abundant natural light, and are beautifully furnished with comfortable and modern décor, creating a calm, soothing atmosphere. We are proud that our office space is accessible to wheel chair users and those who are differently abled.

What do you bring to the table?

- You are a fully Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Social Worker.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Mental Health Therapist.
- Able to provide evidence-based individual (youth or adult), family and/or couples therapy.
- Previous experience working with trauma-based therapy, and an understanding of attachment and process-based methodologies.
- Knowledge of the DSM and psychiatric disorders.
- Awareness of outside community resources.
- Ongoing professional development,



on top of current research and methodologies.
- The individual is extremely organized, detail-orientated, positive, and able to function as an independent contractor and part of a small team.
- Superior communication skills.
- Exceptional client care with minimal response times.
- Maintain professional liability insurance and registration requirements annually.
- Your own management of files, note keeping and client information.
- All materials and storage associated with modalities you practice (books, worksheets, etc.)
- Your own device to be used for electronic file documentation, and for telehealth services (phone or video sessions).
- Providing a possible free 15-minute consultation to recent clients (unpaid), to determine fit and further assessment; meant to be a screening and protection for clients and the therapist.
- Notes, correspondence, and admin time.
- Tracking and sending in monthly invoice which determine clients seen and amount paid out at the end of each month.
- Your own accounting and management of bookkeeping and taxes.
- Priority will be given to applicants with training and/or certification with one or more of the following interventions:
- EMDR
- ART
- ACT
- Trauma Focused CBT
- Grief Recovery Method
- Gottman Method
- Somatic Experiencing
- Emotionally Focused Therapy
