Role: Business Growth Advisor (Independent Contractor)

Location: Remote in Ontario (Open to candidates across Ontario)

Compensation: $300.00/day ($1,050/month base for 3.5 days / 28 hours per month), plus travel expenses and meeting allowances

Schedule: Versatile schedule, daytime hours

About the Role

PARO is seeking accomplished, forward-thinking professionals and business owners to join our roster of contracted Business Growth Advisors. In this role, your business will represent PARO to deliver high-impact advisory services, counseling, and mentorship to women entrepreneurs across urban, rural, and remote communities.

You will help women start, sustain, and scale their businesses, break through systemic barriers, expand into interprovincial trade, and harness modern technology—including artificial intelligence—to build resilient enterprises.

Strategic Focus Areas

Advisors deliver support centered around three core pillars:

- ElevateHER: Guiding businesses through launch, scaling, and market expansion by facilitating access to industry partnerships, peer networks, and interprovincial/international trade opportunities.
- InnovateHER: Driving operational productivity and competitiveness by supporting technology adoption, digital collaboration tools, and cutting-edge resources, including AI.
- FinanceHER: Strengthening financial acumen, investment readiness, and access to capital through peer lending models (PARO Prosper Circles), microfinance, and strategic funding pathways.

Key Responsibilities

- Holistic Advisory & Mentorship: Provide high-level, one-on-one business counseling to women-led enterprises across various business stages, offering tailored follow-up support to navigate ongoing challenges.
- Peer Lending & Group Facilitation: Develop, facilitate, and support PARO Circles, BIZCamps, educational webinars, and regional networking events.
- Digital Ecosystem Engagement: Deliver client support using standard business platforms (Zoom, CRMs, Learning Management Systems, Basecamp, and teleconferencing).
- Ecosystem Collaboration:



Build relationships with strategic community partners, government agencies, and regional organizations to generate referrals and expand economic development opportunities for women.
- Contract Administration: Log client activity, maintain accurate service statistics on Basecamp, and submit monthly invoices and reporting.

Qualifications & Competencies

- Entrepreneurial & Consulting Background: Demonstrated experience operating a successful business or delivering proven results in business consulting, advisory, or executive coaching.
- Subject-Matter Expertise: Practical acumen in business planning, operations, financial modeling, microfinance, market expansion, or technology adoption.
- Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Facilitation & Communication: Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills; proven ability to facilitate group sessions, convey strategic concepts, and lead workshops.
- Values-Driven Leadership: Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the economic advancement of underrepresented groups.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable utilizing cloud-based collaboration software, CRMs, LMS platforms, and project management tools.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French, Ojibwe, or Oji-Cree is considered a strong asset.

Operational & Travel Requirements

- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance.
- Ability and willingness to travel within your designated region for occasional in-person client sessions, meetings, or community events.
