Are you an engineer who enjoys the technical side of engineering most? Do you find yourself drawn to numerical modelling, engineering analysis, ground behaviour, and the challenge of developing solutions to complex underground infrastructure problems?

We're looking for a Tunnel / Geostructural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Vancouver tunnels team. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to build deep technical expertise through hands-on design, analysis, and modelling work while learning from some of the industry's leading tunnel and geostructural specialists.

You will contribute to the design of major underground infrastructure projects across North America, supporting the development of tunnels, shafts, underground stations, retaining structures,



and other complex ground-structure interaction systems.

For engineers who are passionate about becoming technical specialists, this position offers exposure to challenging projects, advanced analytical tools, and mentorship from senior engineers recognized throughout the tunnelling industry.

As a Tunnel/Geostructural Engineer-In-Training, you will be involved in but not limited to the list of duties below:

- Assist in performing geotechnical, structural, geostructural analysis and design for tunnels, shafts, excavations, retaining structures, and other underground or ground-structure interaction systems
- Support site oversight, field reviews, site investigation activities under the guidance of senior engineers
- Support interpretation of geotechnical data, develop ground models, and establishment of engineering parameters to support design and risk evaluations
- Complete engineering calculations, design reports, drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards under the guidance of senior engineers
- Develop numerical models (e.g., finite element or finite difference) to assess ground behavior, soil–structure interaction, deformation, and stability
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams to develop and coordinate design inputs
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and quality assurance activities to ensure effective and timely delivery of design packages
- Assist with proposal preparation, scope definition, and the development of engineering cost estimates, as required

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:





- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Tunnelling, Underground Construction, or a related discipline is considered a strong asset.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in British Columbia.
- 3-5 years of experience in structural, geotechnical, geostructural, or underground engineering.
- Experience using engineering analysis and numerical modelling software such as PLAXIS, Rocscience, FLAC, MIDAS, SAP2000, ABAQUS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering mechanics, structural analysis, soil mechanics, and soil-structure interaction principles.
- Demonstrated interest in computational modelling, advanced analysis methods, and technically complex design challenges.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

The expected salary range for this position is from $84,000 - $103,000
